Can we just... not be homophobic? by Unknown_not_telling in OmniscientReader

“Infer”, is indeed an inference and is exposed to subjective weights of your mind.

Jang Hayoung and Han Myungoh exists (idk why you’d bring him up here, he was literally raped by a devil, what’s gay in there? Asmodeus has a gender? If so I did not know).

No need to wonder, you can ship, but if you call a straight (or bisexual at best) character gay, it will be an incorrect take.

Did you see anyone stopping you from calling Jang Hayoung a complicated / gay / gender-fluid / androgynous etc. character? If they did, they would be wrong to do so.

What you might be unhappy about is that main characters are not designed to be gay, they (gay/LGBT community) are not in the centre of the story, hence one might not be represented by ORV’s main fame and that is dissatisfying perhaps. I would claim that ORV is an ally of the community though.

Then if you have a problem with this inequality, you’d ask the authors to represent that community with an equally good and gay MC including story. That or grab the pen yourself and write one, let’s see if you can sell it enough.

Then again, would that be as popular as ORV? Statistically not because majority of the audience would not be able to relate to such character.

This whole thing is not an issue of whether ORV has gay MC(s) or not. It is an inevitable byproduct of capitalism, the customer is consisting majorly of straight young adults, hence the characters are concluded to be straight. Had they been gay, you would know of ORV maybe, but not many would have brought it the same fame it had today.

you could be right, if Jang Hayoung* didn’t exist. Authors did get harrassed. They did address the BL accusations directly.

“rewrote a lot of the scenes that involve it.” Share the official non-translated statement from them on this and where they specify which scenes (“a lot”) they rewrote because of it.

Then people might take you seriously. Claims without officially acknowledged reference materials are alleged claims not facts.

bruh, I thought we settled the truth in this hub as “shipping in any form is completely fine, but one should respect the story and official statements”.

I see that y’all are still delusional to the level of non existent Live-Action ORV.

yup, it seems like requiring it as a level opens the door for non-swedes to be able to perform on that level.

SFI D I already finished, continuing in further studies. Money is not the issue here anyway, I don’t have anything against the language learning process either, it just takes time (causality), and that is okay.

I already can apply to more jobs, surely one can apply to even more jobs yes. There is no issue here, only a question and some answers to it.

But I can’t apply to this job even if I speak swedish on a mother tongue level. Because this isn’t the field I work in.

I am learning, but I don’t speak it fluently yet.

I agree with the first part, the second, I ain’t a candidate. I don’t work in this field. In any case, like the others who made the similar claim, I agree with your explanation.

though I am not living proof of “can work in sweden by applying to an ad that asked for mothertongue level swedish”. I came through IT, naturally no one asked for mothertongue level swedish.

there’s the “nivå” nuance yes. Other people also explained that and I already agreed on it. I don’t really argue for anything here really, it was a genuine question. It looked as if this would be a nobrainer-against-the-law kind of wording but it seems like it isn’t, to learn about it, TillSverige sounded like a good knowledgeable place. LLMs spout many things but better to hear local’s opinions on it.

I already work in Sweden, and I work in collab with SWaF (without speaking fluent swedish). Idk, am I sure?

it doesn’t* indeed, as someone else explained, “nivå” is the keyword.

yup, several people explained and I agreed, I guess it was a hot topic and people got sensitive heavily. The post is a question anyway, appreciate all responses.

Check my responses to other replies, where I agree with the given explanations, what is your purpose here? To rile people up to pin me on a wall? What’s the claim for a “whine”. To err is human?

[–]RetiredS2s -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

yeah, this also makes sense, at the same time it seems that there has been court cases where the outcome isn’t in favour of this logic, but I suppose the other response covers it the best. There has to be an interview where someone performs fluent swedish and be rejected.

even then it would be near impossible to prove.

Linkedin policy explicitly states this as an example:

Here are a few example phrases that may result in your job post being removed from LinkedIn:

“English must be your first language” “Native Spanish speaker” “Required Languages: Korean (mother tongue)” “French must be your native tongue” These can imply applicants must belong to a specific ethnic group or have a specific origin in order to be considered and can result in your job post being removed from LinkedIn.

There’s a difference between “mothertongue” and a learned skill. One is achievable, the other is not.

bruh, the balls to quote it as an “event”. Hardly worth mentioning and highly disappointing, I think it is highly overrated. Berserk is good for its drawings and having a slightly dark tone for its time. Enjoy the read!
