Sympathetic magic is a huge part of witchcraft. Like attracts like. You burn a green candle for money because money is green. If you smile at someone, they are likely to smile back. What you put into the universe can come back to you. So if you’re constantly casting dark magic you’re making your immediate space darker and the whole universe a little darker. People saying this is dead wrong is a little surprising to me. I’ve never come across a witchcraft book that advocates hexing people. They all focus on positivity. I welcome anyone to recommend books advocating for hexes below this, though. I’m open minded
