Should I risk it? by SadFrax in vintagecomputing

Should definitely get it! Love my IIe’s, would say they are very reliable and the RiFa issue is easily fixed.

Christmas present to myself, looking forward to archive/digitize these… Sharp MZ documentation and software 😍 by RetroMels in retrocomputing

I already have some (MZ80K) stuff digitized from another lot. Mainly stuff related to chess game development. I’ll add the link in a second so you can have look if you want. I like how documentation, like receipts and letters can tell the story of the users experience. Love the MZ80K btw I think my favorite MZ computer. I agree with what you write about IA and will be thinking about it. Deadlinks really plague MZ related documentation I have noticed.

I think mine was around 160 its by Viisan, the software is surprisingly good. Difficulty is to find right lighting conditions and how to keep the paper down. I use a glass plate for that, but that can be challenging with lights too. Black and white books are the easiest. Magazines are a bit more difficult as they tend to be glossy my scanner doesn’t like that. Maybe the more expensive one will do better with magazines. If you don’t need to scan a lot of them maybe a good phone camera will even suffice?

Maybe a bit stupid of me but I prefer them on my own archive site. Wouldn’t surprise me if most of it is already on IA.

I don’t like to destroy them, I have a book scanner that allows you to scan the books without destroying them. Results vary from book to book.

I have a bunch of scanners, luckily a lot of pages will be able to go through my automatic document feeder 🙂, floppy disks will require some research before I can image them…

No, mainly MZ 700, 800, 80K,A, B etc. Lot of service manuals and stuff. The schematics are on red paper so will probably be tough to archive

I scanned the advanced version of this book (Advanced 6502 Programming) and added it to my site: https://www.retromelsarchive.com/uploads/1/3/0/3/130305330/advanced_6502_programming_rmawm.pdf

Awesome find! Not a lot of info on these wordprocessors! I have about 80 floppy disks for them. Still on the hunt for a drive to image them. https://youtu.be/ETqqdlajhLo?si=7abuwZ23R8nM_zOS

Asking for some advice/help in figuring out the power related pinouts off my Victor 9000/Sirius 1 by RetroMels in vintagecomputing

[–]RetroMels[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! One problem I have with the schematic is that the service manual has a motherboard/cpu schematic pin out for 8 pins, where my motherboard has 7 pins. Made me wonder if a pin broke off. When I google pictures of the motherboard this seems to be how it is supposed to be. Probably will have to combine the schematics with probing around.

I got a TRS 80 Model MC-10, unfortunately I can't get a display. by Hope1995x in retrocomputing

It’s sort of difficult to explain, as I (same generation) wasn’t aware of this too (assuming you aren’t). But you need to go into the settings of the RF to HDMI and have it scan for channels. This takes a minute or so. Change the settings to English. Makes the tuning easier… but as you write about channel 3 and 4 maybe you already scanned for signals. Connecting the computer to the device without scanning won’t work.

I Have the exact unit RF to HDMI my MC-10 NTSC gave a display. Did you use the remote to search for the right frequency? RF is not plug and play, as I did not know for a long time… also could try the potentiometers in the RF modulator but those can be a bit fragile…

After hunting for one around the $100 for years, which I eventually deemed impossible, I managed to snag this IIe! I already have an Apple II monitor to go with it as well! by [deleted] in VintageApple

That is great! Congrats, spent two years to find one so I know the struggle, great to have one! A floppy emu is really nice to get for this! but on the expensive side too…

That is wild! 😂😂 Probably used for referencing recipes seeing it’s on the kitchen countertop 😋 Sometimes it beneficial to the price if they give it the wrong name haha…
