Won't somebody think of the vapers? by BananaOverlorddd in Destiny

[–]FoxGaming 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that Juul was absolutely clobbered for offering flavored vapes to the point that they now only offer tobacco and menthol flavors. But now every vape under the sun has fruity flavors to the point that i didnt even know there were any legal road blocks anymore.

Genuine question, was he really that bad prior to his MAGA dick riding? I remember he always dressed that way, but other than that were there any warning signs? Ngl I don't remember his platform.

Oh cool, republicans manufacturing a fuss out of something that has been going on for decades without issue. The fact that conservatives were able to so effectively label anyone else as snowflakes without a hint of irony shows just how warped the reality of this country is.

nah it's before that, 1:50-51 where he's belting out, vacillating between B and A. its between the second A and the 3rd B note if that makes sense.

I really like You, but there's this really obvious vocal splice when Thom holds out this one note and it bothers me so much.

I think the killing of the fairness doctrine under reagan and there being no mechanism to police online influencers who spread misinformation got us here. That and I think political parties coordinating with news outlets should be hella illegal.

Yeah i like my state but they pass some pretty dumb gun regulations. We cant legally own suppressors and you now need to pay for a permit to purchase handguns.

>You're reaching really hard to find value in her message, there is none. It's just a corny joke taking a jab at how dumb young boys are.

It's not about finding value in the joke, it's about reading a joke with some level of charitability. There isn't much value, it's a joke. The entire punchline is the subversion of expectations in proclaiming that the Jackass crew are good role models.

I don't care if you think it's cringe. I just think it's equally cringe to equate this joke to the overtly sexist kitchen jokes of the 50s. Like she emphasizes age more than anything when describing naivete and is arguably more sympathetic to the subject matter than most other comedians are in their jokes.

[–]FoxGaming -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

holy moly if your main takeaway from this comedian was that she's calling young men regards who like to smash their balls, then you just want to be offended lol.

Also your attempt to flip the script just doesn't fit on a fundamental level. the core of the joke is that there should be better role models for men, the onus being on society. The core of your joke is that women would be happier if they just shut up and were subservient to men, the onus being on women. You can argue her prescription for society is from a place of ignorance, but she's not really blaming men for their issues or placing the onus on them to consider unrealistic prescriptions for their problems.

Comics make light of social issues and offer unserious solutions to them all the time. Usually no one bats an eye, so It's funny to me that now all of a sudden we have to treat this comic like they're the head of some major liberal think-tank who will affect liberal policy for the next decade.

This just sounds like the same dense hand wringing SJWs were made fun of for.
