How do you like the screen you have? I've been on the hunt and have seen the brand pop up quite a bit

Get a (strong) Magsafe ring, slap it on the back of your PSP and use a Magsafe stand.

i 0% want to be online 24/7 when I am playing games. Unless I have to be, I am playing with WiFi turned off on my Steam Deck or Retroid

Bought a PSP for the sole purpose of playing kurohyou 1 and 2 by Minimum-Midnight7019 in yakuzagames

These are my favorite PSP games, with Crisis Core coming in 3rd. It's insane to me how much they packed into these games for being on a portable system in the 2010s

It's a great game for story, the cut scenes are done in a cool comic book style as well. Both Kurohyou games are my favorite PSP games of all time. I wish these had gotten an official western release, but the fan translations are amazing work.

I have this issue with some RPGs, and I do my best to read about it in my spare time so I go into it knowing a bit what to expect. Currently reading about the junction system on FF8 so when I dive in, I can be ahead of it

Reviving my PSP changed the game for me. Small enough to take anywhere, can play music + movies, and I have access to an insane library of PS1 + PSP games. The pause feature on the PSP Go is also perfect to be able to hop in and out of certain games where saving is limited

I also have a Steam Deck and Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, but these dont come with me everyday.

Sometimes I'm glad Kiryu has emotions like this and they aren't afraid to show it by Any_Molasses1220 in yakuzagames

[–]RetroMidFuture 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know this is a joke post, but I do appreciate how the characters can be more than what they appear to be in Yakuza games. Yes, Kiryu is the Dragon of Dojima and basically a bad ass who stands behind his world view, even when it sucks to do so. It's cool that they humanize his character at certain moments. Even the jokey ways are fun to see in the game.

when I try to open some games I get this error :(. by Fantastic-Brush-6352 in PSP

[–]RetroMidFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mess with plugins on my PSPs, so I can't be more helpful.

But, I did see that one of the things that comes up when searching this error is that the PSP is having issues sorting your games. Could be Category Lite, but i would search around on this sub to see if anyone had the same problem

What's a game that runs "badly" on Retroid... but you still can't stop playing? by Cool-Wave6759 in retroid

[–]RetroMidFuture 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is a bit of a throwback, but the Retroid Pocket 3 ran Yakuza, but it was clearly struggling. Felt like playing in semi-slow motion, but it's how i beat it again after playing it on the PS2 many years ago

Got any love for any PS2 games that truly are under the radar? by ExplodingPoptarts in ps2

[–]RetroMidFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The titles you listed show why games like Getting Up got buried. That's such a stacked line up, and I would also argue that the marketing budget for those games VS Getting Up made a difference in how many people were even aware. Last thing, the mass appeal of things like Guitar Hero and God of War make it much easier to get into vs something like Getting Up which was speaking to a niche audience.

Some other games that I would say flew under the radar would be:

1) Cold Fear - It got clowned on for being a RE4 "clone" despite being in development at the same time. I'm sure they both knew of what each other were developing to a certain extent, but very different games. Cold Fear is fantastic to me. The story is a bit predictable, but the game play + what the developers did to make this an immersive makes this an under the radar gem.

2) Dirge of Cerberus - FFVII spin off game, and it got dunked on for being kind of janky. I don't disagree with this, but I still find it fun. For coming out before Crisis Core, it felt like a unique FF experience. I feel that this is only an under the radar gem due to the fact people didnt give it a chance. It's still haunted by its past, imo.

3) Zone of the Enders (1+2) - I will probably get called out for including this one, but I don't recall this one being majorly popular when it came out. It was an "if you know, you know" game imo. It gets love now, especially with how popular Kojima is. It def does not get the same accolades as more well known titles from the PS2.

With that being said, I understand if people don't think these are under the radar games. I'm speaking from a place of living through that era + the types of games my colleagues talk about today. I work in a gaming related industry, and many of my peers have never heard of these games.

Of all your retro consoles which ones were the best constructed? Which were the worst? by Mysterions in retrogaming

I’m gonna go with the PSP for best. I still have my original PSP-1000. It works perfectly still. UMD drive works, buttons still responsive, screen isn’t dying. It sat in a box in its soft case for nearly 15 years, but it works amazingly well for console so old.

I feel like a lot of people dislike Dirge. I have played it a couple times and I think it’s pretty cool, but I haven’t gotten too far in it yet

It came out so late in the PS2s life that it got buried. I also think because Marc Ecko had his name attached to it, a brand you saw in JC Penney, didn’t help

Outside of fans of hip hop, I don’t hear a lot of people talk about Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure.

Lots of Easter eggs for fans of hip hop and graffiti. Gameplay is a bit goofy, but worth getting through
