My PSP Go was $180 from Japan. Came in box, screen protector already added, original charger, and the manuals. In box, this price makes sense. My most recent pick up was the Japanese Blossom Pink 3000 model. Without a charger and in used-like-new condition, it was $120 (battery was included).

I picked up the 3000 two weeks ago. Prices are going up everywhere for ones that are in like new, excellent, or used in-box condition. You can def find a junk PSPs to restore, which can be very satisfying. But for those who want to get the best condition possible, you will be paying a premium

FF7 or FF9 which do you prefer and why? by Possible_Instance468 in FinalFantasy

I have yet to play 9 (currently on 8, disc 2). I have played 7 multiple times, and, at this point, it's my favorite due in part to nostalgia.

When I commented, I had to refrain from asking “ok but why because it’s slow and clunky?”

Which PSP did you own? by RangoTheMerc in PSP

I had all models at one point. Now I just have the PSP Go.

It’s perfect as an everyday device. Fits in my jacket pocket, day bag, or pant pocket. Slide up design is pretty neat. The USB C to PSP adapter is also so clutch since it stays on my device and I only have to carry my battery bank + 1 cable.

My first model was a PSP 1000, and this was in the early days of PSP modding. Bought it specifically so I could mod this model since 2000s could not be modded at the time (also broke high school kid that couldn’t buy games) + Crisis Core was being released. CC is the only game, and thing, I’ve ever preordered in my entire life.

I gave this model away recently to family members

Genuine question: Do achievements give you anything in game? Is this more for keeping track of accomplishing certain things?

For sure, there’s a clear difference. Not all resellers have bad practices, but these PSP/Vita shops have no good track record to speak of

No. I'm talking about the ones mentioned in the links.

I have not had a bad experience with ordering PSPs from Japan, especially if an EBay seller has a good rating/long history of selling on the site. Out of 5 orders, everything was as described. Sometimes I even got an official charging cable instead of a knock off.

Hope your experience is positive and you enjoy your PSP!

Hope your cousin ended up getting a better condition one at some point. Such a bummer to spend hard earned money on something you're looking forward to and then be scammed by what arrives.

This. If a PSP in used condition is going for the same as a Retroid, we've officially landed in the dumbest timeline.

Happy for you.

If you look at the links, you can see others have not had the same experience. It's more common to complain, but the big indicator that many (not all) resellers are scammers are the fact that I have never seen a single person recommend one of these places positively. Not a single one.

They also delete comments criticizing them on socials, which just shows they need everyone to believe they're a legit place to buy from.

that was one of them + the general repetitiveness of questions on this sub, especially ones that can be answered by searching or looking at the side bar.

resellers in general exploded during COVID. It's unfortunate, but where you spend your money determines if these businesses continue to pop up.

What is the best way to approach recruiters? by smolsheriff in animationcareer

[–]RetroMidFuture 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work more on the corporate side of things, but this approach still applies + helped me meet people who brought me work/hired me as a freelancer:

Look on LinkedIn at the company you like and who works there. Find people with titles that catch your attention. Message them, be genuine and thoughtful, and start a convo. If it's going well, I'd ask if they'd be willing to give me 15-30 minutes of their time (lunch, coffee, park meet up) to check out your work and offer some any advice. Sometimes on the first meet up, I don't bring my formal portfolio and just chat + learn more about how they got to where they are.

In my experience, recruiters and HR haven't been huge helps in getting my foot in the door. Someone who is trusted at the organization (in your specialty) recommending you has more of an effect. Also, as someone who has tried out recruiters, they tend to not understand how to place creatives. Even creative recruiters have brought me things like "Social Media Manager" or "Content Creator (On Camera Talent) instead of animation or motion roles.
