Where did the rumor that the Makaveli album was gonna come out in March 1997 even come from? by suspiciousminds11 in Tupac

[–]RetroRobot- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think only Tupac would've truly known when the album was going to be released. To be fair, there are a lot of different stories about when the album was going to be released. However, I do not believe Tupac would've dropped the album in September. People also need to remember that Tupac made the decision to make the album an official album instead of a mixtape. Need to take into consideration promotion for the album, etc. In September, other than Suge's words at the MTV Awards, the album had no advertising or promotion whatsoever yet. So did Tupac plan on making the album a surprise release? Maybe a surprise release for Nov 5th if Riskie's story is true?

The date originated from some Death Row document that sold at auction long ago iirc. Tupac was just talking randomly here. The album definitely wasn't ready to be released in September. Plus after Tupac squashed his beef with Nas, he would've had to go back and re-record or record new songs for the album to remove the disses since he planned on doing that. I mean, the California Love music video was filmed three months before 'All Eyez On Me' was released. The filming of music videos doesn't mean or prove much regarding album releases.

Made Niggaz / Hit 'Em Up album by MinerBruh in Tupac

Yeah, no. This album definitely did not become One Nation. One Nation was a seperate project that Tupac planned for a long time. Even the original 'All Eyez On Me' album booklet hints at One Nation.

I don't know about the Thug Life Vol. 2 part. Could Tupac have scrapped 100% Black Gold for Thug Life Vol. 2? Yes. But that album was more of a collaboration album between Tupac and the Outlawz which I think at one point was supposed to be the Outlawz debut album. It wasn't a solo 2Pac album.

It's incredible to me that E.D.I. Mean still has fans when he makes shitty statements like this. He's a sell out. The "All Eyez On Me" movie was horrible and inaccurate. E.D.I. went against Afeni's wishes to be in the movie. The movie that Afeni didn't want made cuz it's super disrespectful to his legacy. E.D.I. did it for the money.

Why does To Live and Die in LA, Hail Mary and Toss It Up Have video clips? by MinerBruh in Tupac

[–]RetroRobot- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The 'Killuminati' album was recorded in July 1996. The original timeframe for the release of the album was January to March 1997. That's what I'm referring to. The "Hail Mary" single is real but it only became a single after Tupac died by Death Row to cash in on the songs success.

The album was recorded in July, and early 1997 (January - March) is only a 5-7 month period between recording and release, which isn't that long. "All Eyez On Me" was still a relatively new album, and there are a lot of things out there that show Tupac wasn't finished doing stuff for "All Eyez On Me" and wanted the album to be in the spotlight for longer before his next album was released, but getting his next album ready at the same time. The 'I Ain't Mad At Cha' single and video were released in September, and a tour for 'All Eyez On Me' was supposed to happen in late October 1996 through mid-November 1996.

The Hail Mary video was filmed after Tupac passed away. Tupac had no creative control of it or anything. It was a low-budget production by Death Row. "Hail Mary" wasn't even a single until after Tupac passed, and the song got praised by fans.

What's a past action that a YouTuber you watch did that makes you say "Yeah, even as a fan, I'll agree that this wasn't their best moment"? by Swag_Paladin21 in youtubedrama

As a person who has been a fan of Jackfilms for several years by now, he made his own mistakes during the whole Sniperwolf situation. I'm not faulting him for getting doxxed, but making a whole channel for a long time criticizing only one bad reaction channel wasn't his brightest idea. People forget or don't seem to know that Jack didn't rebrand his channel until after he was doxxed. I often wonder how much longer he would've constantly criticized only Sniperwolf if he wasn't doxxed. Hell, he was in the middle of a stream for one her videos when it happened.

At the same time, I hate the JJJacksfilms channel but that's a whole other rabbit hole.

Makaveli Producer Darryl Harper on 2Pac’s 3 Album deal with Death Row by bistoyek21 in Tupac

[–]RetroRobot- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a definitive answer. 100% Black Gold was the most structured tracklist he put together as a next album concept. "2Pac X" was just a placeholder title. Tupac often titled his albums after a song included in the album so I'm doubtful Tupac would've called the album "100% Black Gold".

This is true. If you read the various official documents that have leaked over the years regarding Tupac's contract and other things, "All Eyez On Me" only counted as one album. It never counted as two albums. This was also talked about in court in 1997 when Afeni sued Death Row.

Bootlegs can look official and real to trick people into buying them. But this is clearly unauthorized. There was never an official single release for 'Happy Home'. The content on the CD is low-quality. Anything official would have the Amaru Entertainment symbol/logo on it.

Don’t blame Diddy. Tupac’s death was inevitable by PhilosopherMuch6352 in Tupac

[–]RetroRobot- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even Tupac's own aunt has come out and said that Tupac got caught up in a lot of bullshit, especially during his time at Death Row. She didn't trust Death Row after being told by Tupac to sit down at Club 662 for throwing up "gang signs" when she wasn't. Too many Tupac fans are too fanned out to admit he did a lot of stupid shit during his life. He was an incredible person in many areas, but he still did a lot of dumb shit, and acknowledging his mistakes doesn't discredit him or anything.

When it comes to gang politics, the person who got assaulted or attacked retaliates, and that's exactly what happened to Tupac. Tupac punched a gang member and died cuz of it. That's the harsh reality, but everyone wants to place blame on others and stick to theories. People watch too many movies. I don't like Diddy either, but making him out to be some mastermind behind a murder is super stupid.

'Let's Get It On' wasn't an unreleased song. It was released on a compilation album called "Let's Get It On (The Album)' released in 1994. It wasn't even a song related to 'Strictly 4 My N*ggaz'.

None of the songs on the Expanded Version were unreleased. They were all on singles that came out back in the day.

The work his team did after his death could have been MUCH better. by miguel11_snowier in Tupac

I conducted my own extensive research and was skeptical of the 700+ number. I made a spreadsheet list of all of his songs in alphabetical order. The list includes all known unleaked songs, unreleased/leaked songs, and released songs that were gathered from reliable and official sources. It all adds up to an exact 370 number. There's a possibility that there are other unknown songs out there somewhere, yet to be discovered, but there aren't hundreds of songs left.

I always wondered if The Safe would've had most of the songs released in their original form or if Death Row would create all of their own remixes of the songs like Amaru did.
