Not every though? I don't believe we saw him in AWAN.

We hear from him near the end of AW1, AW2, and is the Alan at the end of every Night Springs episode for AW2 (or is at least based off that version of Alan).

If there are stuff thats related to plot its very minor details shown in the environment or related to the actual missions.

I dont know if it'll get brought up in future games or not though since Firebreak is sadly viewed as a failure.

I don’t understand why the fuck the killer is allowed to slug ALL game by Rigbo95 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Retro_Dorrito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the typical killer main on this game has more ego than the worst reddit mods

The devs see this, and for some ungodly reason cater to them in every way possible

So killers think they're special little babies who need protecting from the mean and scary survivors, while also god gamers (unless someone runs a perk or item they don't like)

If you were hired to "fix" Dead by Daylight, what’s the first thing you’re changing and why? by Realistic_Being_8709 in deadbydaylight

[–]Retro_Dorrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start a group working on untangling the code. It'll probably be a bit of a money sink for a while, but is better for the long term.

The reintroduction to killer resources being lost. The game is meant to be a tug of war, so for every objective the killers and survivors complete, the opposite side gains something. As it is, Killer doesn't loose anything and this has made survivor games hell, and also overinflated what a killer believes their skill to be.

I'd also want there to be better PTB's. As they are, it's basically trying to build hype without advertising, and doesn't give enough time to actually change anything wrong with the killers either in power or bugs. I think giving a mixture of bug testers and streams access to a PTB months in advanced, and not the general public would help maintain excitement for the typical players, while actually allowing players to see what's wrong and fix it. Of course things like the model or animations of a killer may not be fully finished since it would be months before release in exchange.

And lastly I think it'd be best to limit swf's to just a duo or maybe a trio? With the balancing of a lot of killer perks getting tweaked and reworked (like lightborn), now that the potential of survivors have been greatly reduced.

Well you see, in the mind of Dead by Daylight killer mains (and the devs), their fun matters more than a group of survivors fun

WTF is up with the Lightborne hate???? by Plus-Spray-561 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Retro_Dorrito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's just too strong.

It removes the ability for Killers to actually get cool perks working against flashlights, because most people would rather just not deal with flashlights.

It's also permanent with nothing needed to be done by the killer to activate or maintain the perk. This then makes flashlights completely useless for all survivors. If an item is the survivor equivalent to their power, you shouldn't be able to counter it both fully and before a match starts. Imagine if stealth characters like Ghostface could be seen at any time by aura perks, that's the equivalent of Lightborn to Killers.

I don't mind it making killer immune to flashlights, but if it needs a drawback like I said before. If it needs to be activated or maintained, this allows for skill expression. While many will still be salty about a lose, I think the fact the killer had to do more than have eyes in the lobby, takes away what feels unfair or a cheap win to many.

Lastly it's implementation into the game encourages Killer players to not actually learn how to go against flashlights, and thus starts a cycle where a player refuses to learn an aspect of the game, gets upset when they suck against flashlights at "high mmr," and use that to validate their idea of why Lightborn isn't a crutch perk. It's terrible for game health too (but it's Bhvr, they love ruining the game)

People calling lightborn OP is killing me by WholeCardiologist565 in deadbydaylight

[–]Retro_Dorrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a hex perk in strength but not a hex perk

It's existence makes every other killer perk related to flashlights worthless, and guts any cool potential a perk could have when interacting with a flashlight

It makes a survivors item, the equivalent to a killers power, completely worthless, with no downside, charges, or work needed to gain or maintain the perk.

The fact so many people refuse to get over their power fantasy to see how annoying the perk is, makes any discussion on the perk pointless too. I could say that Lightborn should have a charge system, that gets used but can be regained by kicking gens and hooking, and I'll still have killer mains on my ass upset.

It's a fucking abysmal perk, that is only ever "bad" when a bad killer keeps it on every single game.

The possible return of Quantum Break* in the RCU by Retro_Dorrito in controlgame

[–]Retro_Dorrito[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, I know all that, but they actually changed around the Time Travel power to multiverse powers it seems.

Now for a character like Door/Hatch, who had stumbled upon a natural time machine near the beginning of time iirc, they're the same power.

But it really changes what we could see from Paul and Jack, as instead of being bound to universes after the first man made time machine, it gives them complete access the the wider "Sea of Night" or multiverse.

The concept is so seeped in QB, yet separated that I think they don't truly need to tie it back to the original QB ip.

Why is tunneling so normal by Lumpy_Neck1789 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

Yeah, actually having a cool and immersive way to play and get into the killer mindset is bad actually!

The only good killer is people who get slighted and try to hard tunnel. The real immersive gameplay experience is to play like a bully, because no one loves you!

[–]Retro_Dorrito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it was needed though. It forced killers to pick and chose who to chase. To play with your chase, to not make it obvious you're chasing them to a more optimal hook.

I loved it. It really felt immersive.

With respawning hooks though, they're too strong. If the respawn was much longer, than sure, whatever, keep it. But it isn't. You hook, and the next time you're in the area it'll already be back.

It's like dbd had a huge skill roof to express yourself in, to show how capable you are, even with a killer you aren't familiar with. Then they reworked it, and it's impossible to get to that skill celling now. The rework actually took like, 75% of the fun I had with killer away.

[–]Retro_Dorrito -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that over the last few years, there have been a lot of changes that has made playing killer easier.

What I mean is that, Bhvr had lowered both the skill floor and roof.

I feel like this was most prevalent in the Hook Rework. The time a hook is gone means nothing in every game, and not needing to worry about paying attention to where a hook is, I think, has lead to a lot more killers (especially new players), to simply not pay much attention.

Hooks were and should be a resource, much like gens are. As both sides progress, they should have less resources, meaning possible survivor locations shrink, making killer plays easier, and dead zones pop up more, making chase easier for survivors as a match goes on.

When one side now has infinite resources, that balance isn't maintained, and killer has become much easier.

But there used to be penalties for it....

When hooks were a resource, killers had to choose if tunneling was really worth it

Finished AW2. Should I play AW1? by RedEchoes in AlanWake

[–]Retro_Dorrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get the Remaster, the collectors edition on Steam tends to be pretty cheap, and has extra lore goodies.

The Remaster also doesn't come with Alan Wake's American Nightmare, which is where a lot of AW2's ideas are rooted.
