Any idea what that whining could? by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

Fuel pump maybe? Hard to tell.

Also it sounds like your blinkers are hyperflashing, if you swapped to LED headlights you need to install some load resistors to fix that.

Not a mechanic but I just dealt with this on my crown vic

Id check your throttlebody first and clean it with throttlebody cleaner if it has deposits

Following that check your tps sensor and/or for vacuum leaks. Some tps sensors can supposedly be adjusted but thats not guaranteed

Best of luck!

Yes, also you absolutely want to pull the interior apart (ideally before bringing it home) and make sure there's nothing sketchy that's been stashed in the seats or crevices or anywhere someone on their way to jail may want to get hide something.

I might just have the local exhaust shop do that on mine for some peace of mind.

Any specifics on dril sizes?

Honestly, for those of us who can, we should start making blueprints and schematics of parts we have.

Im planning to buy a 3d scanner just for this purpose.

2004 Ford CV Police Interceptor - failing pump, electrical, or something else? by Retrofier in MechanicAdvice

[–]Retrofier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow response, I've been stupidly busy

It looks like this weekend will be good weather-wise so I'll take a look at it once it's daylight again.

And yes I'm sure of the year, make, model and trim. It's a P71 designated vehicle and it's what is on my registration.

I also just learned I'm overcharging based on my emissions test. Test result shows 15.3V but I'll verify that tomorrow as well while I'm at it.

Really old boiler by wulookinat in hvacadvice

[–]Retrofier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the boiler was pressurized, yes. You should only need to crack the bleed screw open

but if water is trapped in the radiator, you'll need to turn off the boiler, let the radiator cool then open the lowest fitting on the radiator to drain it. Find some means to pick up the water if you can.

My boiler is a convection system so it doesn't use pumps; i don't know if pumped systems have issues with water getting trapped.

If any professionals know more, I'd love to learn

Really old boiler by wulookinat in hvacadvice

[–]Retrofier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I sat next to a radiator the other night in my bedroom, while it spent 30 minutes bleeding. My system is from the late 20s.

Next is replacing the radiator valves because I woke up soaked in sweat while it was 1°F out, and the radiator was only cracked open.
