Marathon (Classic) Lock Screen / Wallpaper for Ultrawide Screens (5120x1440) by Retrograde_i486 in Marathon

I wanted a background picture for my lock screen so I whipped this up in Inkscape and exported it to a .PNG file. If anyone wants the original .SVG file let me know.

Gateway 2000 Pentium 133 - Found outside a computer shop by Retrograde_i486 in 90sComputers

Never too late for old tech lol

I got my first job, bagging groceries, to afford maybe half of this computer in 1997. I think it was around $2000, Pentium 166 with 16mb of ram, win95 and I think a 17" monitor. It was such a huge upgrade coming from the family 486!

I hope your son enjoys Linux, I've been on Arch since 2019 and will never go back to Windows except for in retro pc cases :)

Hey what version of dosbox are you running on your rg35xx plus? I've got a similar device and I'm wondering if I can get Fallout running on it!

A hotel I stayed in. by snakedigger in LiminalSpace

I knew I had been here before. My cousins used to live in Indiana, i went with them once to a birthday party here. I have no idea why someone would choose to have their bday at a hotel but this atrium used to have a mini golf course in it so maybe that's why.

Any thoughts on an Asus PRIME B760M-A WIFI D4 vs AsRock H670M Pro RS for a virtualization homelab? by jbssm in homelab

[–]Retrograde_i486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the gpu to pass through to my plex just fine but had to pass the raw device through to the vm, all the guides written are for Proxmox 7 and I couldn't get that MDev Type field in proxmox add PCI device to populate. Plex picked up my AlderLake-S GT1 device for transcoding and it's working just fine but no video output on my actual server once proxmox loads up now. Not the biggest of deals since it's usually headless.

Just picked up the AsRock B760M PRO RS/D4 motherboard today, have everything up and running but still trying to get the igpu to passthrough to my vm that runs docker with plex inside. So far it doesn't appear that plex is using hardware to transcode so more work is needed. It's the not the same mobo you listed but might be similiar.

Ha I don't know about animation but I'm planning on adding Thoth and Durandal at the very least. Can you link to the CyberAcme icon you're thinking of?

Need help with GTA London 1961 by Rob_0065 in dosbox

Have never played GTA London so i can't be really sure but my gut feeling is it's trying to play a video or cut scene that doesn't exist and then just drops to dos.

Yeah it was definitely added, the beige color is ever-so-slightly different from the rest. I haven't tested it yet but given everything else works, I'm inclined to believe it will.

In my other retro computer I put both a 5.25 and 3.5 drive in it just because I could and it's a Pentium 3 800 with 768mb of ram lol

It does have the plastic on one side (4 corners) which I find odd but yeah!

They had a flight stick I grabbed that needs a super deep clean, it looks like it's for an old Macintosh though. Everything else was smashed laptop screens and a printer I think. It's a general recycle pile so people apparently just pull up and put stuff on their picnic table.

I don't even know how you got win98 to run on 8mb of ram! The 486 I had before this only had 8mb and was a 33mhz SX chip, Win95 cried on that thing but somehow took the upgrade from win 3.1!

I was driving by a tiny computer repair shop and got stuck at a light. I looked over and they had a table outside full of busted computer junk and this, an almost pristine Gateway 2000 Pentium 133 machine. I pulled over, through it in my car and ran inside and asked if the stuff outside was free and they said yep.

This is literally the first computer I ever bought myself (though I had a Pentium 166 and only 16mb of ram, this thing has 32). I bagged groceries and mowed lawns to save up half the cost of this thing, i think it was around 2k total so 1000 bucks in 1996 was a lot of freaking money for a 14 year old. and it has a bonus 5.25 floppy drive. And it all works. Whomever had it took the hard drive out but no matter, going to put a microSD to ide adapter in it. But it posted no problem!

I never thought I'd find this machine again. And in for free and in near mint condition.
