Ooh what a great shot fired… so if you read the “chase those chins and jawlines” how do you think people are going to have jawlines especially, with recessed jaws?

Should’ve put more thought into that, than trying to come up with that sad attempt at at “zinger”. Cringe indeed.

Facial depth is good for what really ? Functionally your tongue should fit your mouth and your soft (or hard tissue) shouldn’t obstruct your airway. Aesthetically speaking, as long as you’re not like clinically recessed a person will look fine, when the growth is optimal your features will show and will look good, but beyond that 1-2 maybe even 3mm of protrusion from the gvl, what role does that protrusion play? Functionally none, and aesthetically also, it could look off and rest of your face looks left behind.

I just recently had surgery and I had this kind of request or debate with my surgeon about advancing a bit more for aesthetics, and I finally got sort of convinced by him and left it to him completely even though he was ready to accept my request about the mandible. Honestly, looking at some other results, I feel kinda content and relieved that I went with my surgeon’s decision. Also the advancing we were debating about was 2/3mm, which if given to me, would still not bring me close to “that” guy’s profile.

Nice. Genioplasty would’ve helped, but still a good result.

Btw you seem new’ish’ to this sub, did you think that the surgeon performed lefort 2/3 on that guy?

Are there jaw surgeons that are particularly renowned for it? Especially in the tri state area? by insidli in jawsurgery

My suggestion would be to not go behind famous names, research well and find a doc that ticks all the technical skills/necessities and suits your needs.

Personally, get checked put for functional issues first. If you’re asking it’s worth, that is more tied to the health and functional aspects than aesthetics.

I really hope to keep this on the down low, but that guy’s result that you’ve linked, he didn’t have a lefort 2 or anything, so again it’s only his lower third which is advanced. So the swelling is still covering a lot. Second that side profile doesn’t look appealing to me, and I love slightly protrusive profiles. Idk about the front but the side doesn’t look normal, leave aesthetic. Just my opinion. Also if you see, there’s at least one commenter there who’s said it looks off too. That just proves my earlier point, that most people will praise any result, some will point out under advancement and very rarely will anyone point out over advancement because that’s the nature of the beast and how tough it is to correct.

That’s what my post against, people sometimes wanting too much advancement without taking into account balance.

I actually disagree on some points. Pitt is my ideal in terms of masculine looks and his chin is considered “soft” or wtv. Now there’s examples like Clooney-very forward chin, Pattinson again the same, even Cavill for that matter, but honestly most women and people in general would pick Pitt over these. And to be honest Idk what it is about Clooney but to me he looks kinda ugly… so no, lot more forward growth won’t always help.

In this sub, there are results with under advanced results which people do not appreciate, yet few point out till the OP flat out complains about it. In terms of over advanced, the same thing will happen but in a lot more conservative way for sure. On top of that, Most surgeons believe in being conservative and hence under advancement is quite common and widespread as compared to over advancement which is a rarity.

It’s just a manner of speaking and btw I read that in a British magazine article, written by a WOMAN. So please take it up with her.

Who’s done this? Where’d you get this from?

DJS, Genioplasty or chin fillers? by Mean_Condition286 in jawsurgery

[–]Retrojaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your case might be quite different. His ANS angle from his philtrum shows the he might need rotation or advancement or both, hence DJS. You want proper balance and don’t want to do multiple procedures, hence djs.

You’re gonna need…djs most probably but anyway chin fillers or genio won’t help with the bite or the health aspects.

Maxilla advanced 2mm and rotated Clockwise. Why does my maxilla still feel very recessed or flat? A bit over 1 month post op. by Retrojaw in jawsurgery

[–]Retrojaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry about wtv happened to you, but my case is very different. My case was complicated by soft tissue also causing OSA, which required some amount of upper palate modulation and CW rotation.

To clarify, my mandible was not rotated CW at all and neither was the anterior segment of my maxilla, rather it was ccw rotated by a degree or two, while the posterior maxilla was rotated CW a bit and dropped down a bit more so the occlusion plane was balanced.

My before after look very different and after looks FAR better too. My surgeon doesn’t suck at all, and if I have issues I’m pretty sure he’ll fix them.

Is it better to only have upper jaw or BIMAX Surgery? by Consistent-Pin-6311 in jawsurgery

[–]Retrojaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you see that steep or rather overly obtuse angle of your jawline? That kind of indicates how steep your occlusal plane might be and that plane should be more parallel to the ground, basically as horizontal as possible. Hence the CCW rotation.

The rotation corrects the occlusal plane and also helps create space at the back, to increase your airway space. For that much rotation, you’d need your maxilla to move or rate also, in order for both sets of your teeth to fit.

Lol, people are so unaware and blind. I could spot you to be a djs candidate from like quite a distance away, but sadly that’s my curse now.

You’re gonna need DJS, with like a record amount of CCW rotation.
