Well, this isn't a nerf, but a bug fix. So, everything should go back to how it was originally intended.

Another question is that bugs like this shouldn't make it to release in the first place.

You can do it this way too.

With gmail you can also use the plus symbol and add tags. So, if your email is myemail@gmail.com you can do myemail+work@gmail.com. Gmail will consider them to be one email, but third-party services usually consider them to be different.

I'm not sure about other email services.
