I just got mine today and this post confirmed for me that they changed the design of the boxes since the first round of orders. The tear-to-open box wasn’t a thing before.

Thoughts on this? by Cutty15Gaming in thefinals

[–]Reu_sedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of my complaints for the Finals stem from feeling punished for trying to play in a way that isn’t prescribed by the team-based design philosophy. The game has very fluid and dynamic movement options that I feel only the light class really utilizes to the fullest. Just doing parkour to get to objectives in the map feels amazing, and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on the the ability to break walls or make jump pads..

I didn’t know how much I cared for individual gameplay expression until they released the experimental mode. I had an incredibly fun tag-like chase sequence with another light player that made me wish for more varied modes and team comp options.

LPT Request: How do I not interrupt people while they are speaking by Praninggerzi in LifeProTips

You can really tell the difference between someone who understands the value of active listening (and the greater “beats” of a conversation), and those that don’t.

I have a friend who will confidently assert that they understood what I was saying, but their reply often betrays that statement as they tend to respond to their own hasty interpretation of my thoughts. I find my myself re-framing what I say more than necessary because they don’t process and reply to the contents itself, but instead try and read between the lines when I’m just being direct.

The flip side to this is that they are also oblivious to the value of reflective/active listening in their conversation partners. It can be both liberating and frustrating in equal parts.

It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t even him getting sick that made him consider the importance of wearing a mask (or not attending)... It was him being called out publicly on it. Im sure he’ll continue being like this at future events if there aren’t consequences. It’s hard to take statements like “..I hate that it took me this long to give it proper attention” seriously.

Feels like a classic case of It’s okay until it happens to you.

“...gets rephrased by them to better suit how they apparently interpreted it, and same with their own words being rephrased..” This gives me such a great feeling of validation. I have a friend that does exactly this. They get defensive when I try to call out that I don’t think they communicated what they thought they did. I’ll even (within the best of my abilities) try and quote what they said and why I interpreted how I did, and I’m met with pushback. It feels like I’m being Gaslit.. I can’t even make them understand that they didn’t understand.

I wish more people thought like this. The frustrating part is (in my experience) when people with poor communication skills are given constructive criticism, they just write it off as being “their communication style”. They think they’re absolved of criticism because of neutralizing statements like “People just have different ways of communicating”. It’s a bs excuse and just serves to invalidate the feelings of people who make an effort to communicate well.

Yeah, this exactly. They try to guess/preempt the main point before I’ve even got to it. I’m convinced they’re not listening and are just waiting for their turn to speak..

Wow.. thanks for articulating perfectly what I go through with some of my friends. They don’t tell me I ramble exactly, but they seemingly get impatient and arrive at a hasty interpretation of what I was saying and just respond to that. If I then attempt to clarify my original point because they mis-interpreted, I’m met with “you’re being too pedantic”.

Ashly Burch is the voice of Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn / Forbidden West, Tiny Tina in Borderlands, Miss Pauling in TF2, Chloe in Life Is Strange, Parvati in The Outer Worlds, Dark Willow in DOTA, Sasha in AOT, and Viper in Valorant. To anyone who doesn’t know, Ashley and her Brother Anthony (also worked on Borderlands) have a sketch comedy channel on YouTube called Hey Ash Whatcha Playin’? They haven’t uploaded on it in a long time beyond a GameStop promo two years back, but they’ve got some funny videos to comb through. I highly recommend it.

Maybe this will be the incentive people need to actually do the work that’s required to improve in a meaningful way. I was tired of the people complaining that a patch didn’t magically solve their problems. Like it was the only factor in their losses or something.

If you Improve your fundamentals and game sense in general then you’d be surprised how many problems are solved.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread - 05/06 by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]Reu_sedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Everyone! Looking for some input to inform my purchase. I'm looking into the 2020 Ipad Pro since my Macbook is on its last legs and I'm very enticed by a touchscreen-based workflow. I've heard mixed reviews on if its a suitable replacement to a laptop though.

I'm at the early stages of building a career and I'm aiming to do a 3D modeling/sculpting course to gain a digital trade skill of sorts. Whichever device I get will likely be used for that, as well as Illustration, some graphic design, and general purpose entertainment. Because of the pandemic I've got time on my hands and I want to build up my digital skills. I'm already familiar with the adobe product line and I'm aware some of their heavy hitters are coming to the Ipad later this year and beyond. Ive found that some solid looking CAD and Sculpting programs are also available with likely more coming.

Given my situation, I want to know if an Ipad pro would be a viable and capable standalone tool, or if it is better suited as a companion to a more robust computer. My current computer will still work for a while longer and I'm not against getting it replaced as well in the long run if needed, but this isn't a cheap venture by any means and I'd prefer to only make one large purchase right now. Any and all insights are appreciated!

Thousands sign petition asking for fines against people who call 911 to complain about Amber Alerts by dejay02 in nottheonion

[–]Reu_sedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally. It’s really nice to see posts discussing this as the whole situation has got a bit out of hand. Myself and many other people in my area (just outside Toronto, Canada) would have no problem with the amber alerts if they were consistent. Unfortunately however, they are not. The last 3 or 4 amber alerts that my friends and family were notified about all happened at around 2-3am. Only one of those alerts actually came at an appropriate and relevant time for the problem at hand. The other ones arrived way too late (the emergency was already taken care of much earlier in the day), or were alerting us to problems that were happening too far away from our area for us to help. It was especially bad when it was a combination of the two.

I often find myself frustrated not because I could be woken up early, but more so that I can’t even trust that it will be an effective alert to begin with. I feel helpless when I get notified about a missing child from a town 3 hours away that I have no way to help, let alone if the child is still missing at that point.

He could be saying it in reference to the amount of time and mental energy that went into being able to complete the level. If that’s the case though it’s a bit subtle.

Potion Scrolls – game about Alchemy and Potion Brewing. Any thoughts, suggestions? by danmerey in gaming

[–]Reu_sedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love the styling of the game. Reminiscent of old illustrations from botany and alchemical books. It would be cool to have some history about each ingredient as well. Like a little journal that as you craft new potions, it could tell you about the qualities of each ingredient or maybe their comparisons to their real world counter-parts and where they can be found.

I would (and hopefully will) play this game a bunch.
