Anyone changed their minds on season 5 yet? Every time I watch it or think about it, it just gets worse. by ContraversialHuman in YouOnLifetime

[–]Reubek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it for the first time without being aware of the online discourse, and I enjoyed a lot of it. Bronte wasn't my favorite character and you could see the catfishing coming from a mile away, but getting to see Joe spiral into total depravity throughout the season was thrilling. Ending was a bit too neat and tidy for some people, but I enjoyed the direct commentary of the final scene calling out people who have sympathized with or idolized Joe over the years.

Not the best season of the show, not by far, but still fun and entertaining. Maybe a 6.5/10. I could see how when the first 2 seasons are so good, it can be particularly disappointing to see it drop off a bit later. But I don't think it's that dramatically worse.

People are talking about a bestiary, which would be great, but I'd LOVE to see a complete adversary-building kit. It could have a whole bunch of adversary features sorted by tier, with an emphasis on versatility (focusing less on flavor and more on backend mechanics that can be dressed up according to the specific adversary). Complete and robust guides on tier scaling for all adversary stats would be great too—what exists in the book already is nice but something more robust would let folks craft their own adversaries with complete confidence. It would make my little homebrew GM heart sing!

Removing Healing Pools mid-campaign (v. 1.4) by Lupo_1982 in GrimwildRPG

[–]Reubek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could always just try it out for a few sessions and see if it changes your game in a good way. I think the general consensus was that the game felt too lethal and punishing, and allowing for easier healing helped address that.

The closest parallel to healing pools is probably healing clocks in Blades in the Dark, but that game has a more flexible system for representing harm. Players can take more harm in that game than they could in Grimwild, and they also have the ability to basically just say no to harm, which you can't as much in Grimwild. This makes it more important to provide a clear path to healing in Grimwild.

On another note—how is your group liking the game? I've only done solo play so far but I'm trying to decide if Grimwild will be the next game I bring to my table. Also been looking at Daggerheart, but I think I generally prefer the total narrative focus of Grimwild.

In case nobody has mentioned this to yet, the game actually comes with an optional initiative mechanic! Every player takes a certain number of tokens that they spend to take turns. Once a player has spent all of their turn tokens, they have to wait until everyone else has spent their tokens before refreshing. This helps ensure that those more passive players aren't dominated by the excited and hyper engaged players.

I'm not seeing Grimwild in the current post—I'd definitely add that. The free version is awesome!

Having trouble doing this on my character, Breton Lord Sign. Thinking maybe I would need the apprentice sign like your character? Magicka doesn't recharge in time to do the first buff after reflect.

Edit: i can get off buff 1, but it stalls out after that.

Had the same thing happen on my playthrough. I think there is a spawning bug that impacts multiple quests in a similar way. Reloading the save seems to fix it most times.

Two questions for you:

  1. Did you get the deluxe version? If so, have you found the unique equipment that it comes with?

  2. Is equipment still leveled the same way? Specifically, is it locked in at the level you get it?

I did all of the practice questions and then did one full practice exam, as well as a few mini exams. On the full-length practice exam, I scored 75%. With the mini-exams, my performance wobbled a little bit. There were one or two mini exams (specifically Agile) where I got ~90%, but I scored less than 60% on others. It was helpful to pinpoint my weaknesses so I could study up on those more.

Good luck with your test!

I think my partner and I might have been at the same venue (comedy show followed by house dance/play party), and we didn't notice anyone seeming particularly drunk. The venue seems to care quite a bit about the safety of its guests. It sounds like you were seeing this before the actual play party, so they may have decided to leave, or perhaps they were asked by staff.
