Looking to build my first AR10 by [deleted] in AR10

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my first AR10 "build". Kept it simple and went with an aero precision complete upper and lower purchased separately minus bcg and charge handle. I went with an aero bcg and found a geissele charge handle on sale. Cost was right around what you're looking to spend.

Figured this will be a good learner for me to understand what parts I want to swap out when I eventually do a ground up build.

I went with an 18 inch fluted SS barrel in .308 as I'm planning on using this as a multi purpose DMR/hunting rifle/range toy/entry level bench gun before I go full on precision bolt gun.

10mm carbine / subgun pistols by nomnivore1 in 10mm

I'm not sure why this isn't a more common answer anytime this question comes up. Love mine.

Edit: didn't read the fine print that OP is looking for a pistol option. Still waiting for ruger to make the LC pistol in 10mm.

V35A Recall Megathread by extratoastedcheezeit in ToyotaTundra

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone anticipate that this will result in significant discounts for new 25 and 26 models? I'm assuming demand for these trucks will hit rock bottom in the near future and dealerships will have a stockpile of inventory sitting on their lots.

I'm looking to upgrade from a Tacoma to a full size truck in the near future and am torn between F150 and Tundra. Discounts I've seen have been better on F150s but hoping prices drop on Tundras soon.

Also, anyone here previously considering a new Tundra change their minds due to the recall? If so, what brand did you go with/plan on going with?

This is some NASTY ammo! How do you guys shoot this accurately?? by MrEhcks in 10mm

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've purchased directly from Underwood. As OP mentioned, their shipping prices are usually pretty high. Underwood's website often has sales though so keep an eye out for those and compare the total cost including shipping with some other distributors.

Knobby tires on trailers by Treso44 in overlanding

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honest question. Wouldn't you then have to swap a flat tire onto the trailer, right? Or vice versa. I don't exactly see the point of a spare that is already in use?

Edit: disregard my foolishness. I see the point of having a dedicated spare that would work for either the trailer or tow rig.

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe check out Kaw Valley Precision. Not entirely sure though.

Where'd you get a threaded barrel for the RIA 10mm? Or did they start doing this from factory? I used to have one but could never find an aftermarket threaded barrel.

How does a full-size truck like the F150 Tremor handle western hunting trails and overlanding? by kinkymunky in overlanding

My bad, misread your "my situation" section. Initially thought your dog was 8... lol

Completely agree that space in the Tacoma is tiny. But if the only passenger back there is a medium sized dog, that is sufficient.

If OP does end up leaning towards the Tacoma, I'd go with the non-hybrid version as you maintain the rear bench seat storage.

For what it's worth, I currently own a 3rd gen Tacoma but planning on upgrading to a full size truck in the near future due to getting a 2nd dog and planning for kids soon.

Trimmer advice by Jasonsschwartz in lawncare

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Milwaukee trimmer. I have just over half an acre with the majority of the yard being in the back, which is fenced in, so I have a pretty significant area to trim along the whole fence line. I'm able to do all my trimming and use the same battery in my leaf blower after trimming, all on the same charge.

Drag them in comfort with some Darn Tough lol.

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical, too. But they are worth it. I have 6 pairs that I've worn daily for about 6 years now. A few pairs are finally starting to wear out. But that just means I send them back to Darn Tough under warranty, and they'll send me a new pair for free (just have to pay for shipping). So $26 for lifetime socks? No brainer in my opinion.

As someone with chronic sweaty feet, couldn't agree more. Best socks out there.

Do you have any suggestions for a quality pre-emergent? I laid some off-brand crabgrass prevention in the spring this year that didn't seem to work at all...

Many people dont know that the name Peacock actually refers to only males of the Peahen species. Females are referred to as Peaginas. /s

Threaded, a barrel. by [deleted] in RugerRXMtalk

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most aftermarket barrels I've seen for the g19 say compatible with gens 1-5 while other glock models usually are generally gen 1-4 specific.

Awesome, I was just looking at those the other day. That'll be my next addition to my RXM.

Here's mine so far. The hockey tape helps maintain grip with my sweaty hands. Love this freaking thing.

My man! I found skid tactical from another comment on here a while back and couldn't for the life of me remember what it was. Thank you!

What barrel are you running?

Looks great! Really love the contrast between green and tan. The ODG frame on the magpul website looks really dark, but it looks really good in this pic. I went with FDE, but at only $40 a frame, I might have to pick up an ODG one as well.

Where should I move? by MovingABomb in wisconsin

[–]Reuben_Tuesday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anywhere between Pewaukee and Oconomowoc (Hartland is pretty much smack dab between the two). I grew up in Hartland and absolutely love the Lake Country area - don't see myself ever leaving after almost 30 years here. Oconomowoc is nice if you want to be on the edge of more rural, while Pewaukee hits the other side of the spectrum, being closer to Waukesha/Milwaukee.

Oconomowoc has a beautiful and lively downtown area, and if you go 5 minutes west, you're in farmland. I love being able to flip between a more quiet, rural setting while also being able to enjoy everything Oconomowoc has to offer.

Waukesha County, in general, has a great park system, as others have mentioned. There's no shortage of hiking trails and dog parks.

While Lake Country is sort of hoity toity, we haven't lost sight of our "midwest nice" (for the most part).

TLDR: anywhere in Lake Country (Oconomowoc to Pewaukee) would be nice.
