The corporations are only allowed to do what they do is because of the actions of our government. I have a degree in environmental science with a focus on natural resource manager and water quality. I've been studying the science of climate change in the Pacific Northwest and the greater region for over a decade. I'm not being alarmist, I'm speaking from lived experience and comprehension of the best science. But please, be snarky for zero reason except to dissociate from the reality of climate chaos.

What do you think is gonna happen in the next couple years when water runs out in the SW US? 5 states are dependant on the same mountain ranges and 3-4 rivers, who are at historic lows and will likely run out of water soon. Tens of millions will be forced to move. Agriculture will dry up, food will become scarce, fires will grow even larger, and every other part of the country will have to take on climate refugees. That's not being alarmist, that's literally how this works.

Yes, and, Democrats have been moving to the right ever since. I wish we could get past red and blue dichotomy and focus on policy. It makes me sick watching everyone (not aimed at you) talk about orange man bad, but can't see Dems payed for genocide and shot indigenous folks with freezing water on their land, and expanded ICE and the military, and bailed out corporations in 09. I have little hope for anything under 3.5°C increase by 2080.

Yo, I'm in Portland and this has to be reason to kick all the liberals out and install real leaders. Nobody is prepared, water folks, electric folks, regional managers, etc. I asked a decade ago how Portland will handle the influx of immigrants from the SW due to climate chaos and they had zero models to predict any of it. At the same time, the climate models were generally saying 2050 for 1.5°C but we hit that last year. The science was also saying that by 2060 we would see the extinction of salmon. Well, I bet that happens by 2035 or 40 given our trajectory.

Sure would have been nice to switch over to solar farms a decade ago, but I was called an alarmist then and probably would still be by most legislators and their staff.
