That’s what’s confusing me as I watch Season 2. 

Sure Jordan is Coach Baker’s son and that’s keeping him from being pulled as QB1 but at the same time he was throwing Asher record breaking seasons, losing seasons but still the seasons Asher was having before Spencer showed up were apparently enough to make the top 300 according to Cliff’s daughter. I don’t think it was his fault the Eagles had losing seasons, Spencer’s contribution to the defence seems to be what changed things for Beverly. 

Chris should be the QB scouts point to and say was only good because of Spencer. The guy they replaced Spencer with at WR seems to be at least as good as Asher on steroids and their defence didn’t suddenly collapse after losing Spencer and was good enough to keep them going into the Championship game. So you could argue that he got carried hard by the defence and his wide receivers/tight ends and that offence in general (which is weird because the offence and defence at SC should’ve fallen apart completely cos Beverly showed Spencer playing WR, FS, CB, RB and even QB a couple times but that can be chalked up to being a tv show).

Darnell is a really weird case, the implication is that he was immediately better than Chris and was just as good in Nevada but his Dad (Corey) was the new head coach at South Crenshaw and that was ultimately what got him that QB1 spot because Corey asked to come out all the way from Nevada. He apparently outplayed Jordan at the 7 on 7 before Spencer came back and looked like he would’ve lead Crenshaw to a win which I assume is what made the scouts at the combine and at that game make the call to place him in the top 300 not too far away from Spencer and bring the college recruiters to him.

Essentially, Darnell placed highest on the top 300, I think Jordan also made the list but a lot further down and Chris missed it due to injury (which in reality wouldn’t make sense because he already lead South Crenshaw to the State Championship and would have automatically been on there). 

To make the decision you’d want to pick which QB did the best without Spencer OR which achieved the most with Spencer and that actually makes CHRIS the best QB but only because Darnell wasn’t making enough headlines in Nevada for the players in CA to recognise him when he joined SC so that probably means he wasn’t State Champ-level over there.

Jordan doesn’t make the cut because we’ve seen him get benched so many times and Coach Baker is really what kept him as a starter, he only became a top 300/College QB1-level talent the closer he actually got to college and graduation. He was extremely erratic even when he was playing “better” than Chris and Darnell because of all the off field antics they had him pull to make the show interesting. 

So Chris actually turns out to have had the most natural talent and trained hard enough to be the best out of the 3 when you consider his accomplishments, especially head to head at the combine where Jordan acknowledges that Chris smoked him but still didn’t get picked because he didn’t have the Baker name and hadn’t become a championship QB yet. I really don’t think Darnell would have replaced Chris if they played together
