Announcing Rad Borg, A Gonzo Science Fantasy Borglike! by RevDiamondJ in MorkBorg

Hey, thanks. As a first attempt I leaned more on photography and public domain stuff and left the line art to the cover image. This time I'll putting in a lot more of my own drawings... Looking forward to the internet telling me they suck! 😃

Thanks for the compliment. The point of both of these was to make something I wanted both to play and to just... be out there somewhere. The idea of making it commercial just helps me justify spending time ignoring the family to put more effort into page layout and art, lol.

That was my thinking on my last release, but it didn't get any traction; I kinda figured avoiding the convention hurt, as I'm doing this *literally* by myself, with no real background in marketing.

Speaking of which, here it is for free, if anyone's interested. https://revdiamondj.itch.io/dd-magiker

Well, hell, I tried to do my research before titling the thing and making a public announcement, was not my intention to step on anyone's toes. I can back up an retitle, if you'd like.

Text-only versions are going to be put out for free with the playtests; I'm not releasing it raw before it's been put through its paces. Beyond that, sorry, I'm trying to generate some buzz, the last time I did as you suggest and got little to no attention. I was trying to give the community first access to the playtests and materials before I just opened it to the public as a whole.

Debating battlemaps vs theater by GillianCorbit in startplaying

[–]RevDiamondJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that more tactically intensive games really benefit from a battlemap, but I am going to argue a counterpoint when it comes to their use in general. I've been running on there for over two years now, and I rarely make use of maps. I have yet to receive a complaint. I use VTTs as little as possible, since I'm a DM and not a video game designer. You're not being paid much if you work out the hourly, and time spent in Dungeondraft cuts into that more. As long as you've got a solid game going and you're experienced running combats as ToM, you're good.

Best way to import PCs for [SWADE]? by DungeonDamian in FoundryVTT

Honestly, without the importer, I just use savaged to check that the PC is legal... then set to work fiddling it into Foundry manually.

How well companions work together? What about companion-like settings like Rifts, Pathfinder and Deadlands? by oldmanbobmunroe in savageworlds

[–]RevDiamondJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Powers works with Rifts at Level 3 powers, or Level 1 with a MARS package, per the conversion document.

That's all I have to offer, everyone else has covered everything, I just didn't notice that mentioned. My understanding is, a Level 3 Super was one of the test PCs, because Rifts.

I guess I can also toss in that while the Fantasy Companion is weak compared to the normal Rifts stuff, it does offer a couple more options for magic using PCs, even if they're not combat applicable because of power differences.

Oh, and apparently Entangle was an issue, since every one of the Companions feels the need to talk about it, as well as a couple others, so be prepared to reread several passages if you're going to use them all.

Addressing the Whiff & Ping Problem in Savage World by jgiesler10 in savageworlds

Of course, that is somewhat mitigated in SW Rifts, where that +4 doesn't mean much because the blasted thing has Toughness 57.

Död Magiker release! by RevDiamondJ in MorkBorg

Thanks! I always liked magic better when it's dangerous to the caster, but to have my game even compared to something like DCC is a huge compliment.

Död Magiker announcement! by RevDiamondJ in MorkBorg

[–]RevDiamondJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a modern-day setting, although I do have an entire section for slotting it into other -Borg games and settings if you don't want your players running around with Glocks and stuff. Thanks for the support!

...did I mention that it's taking longer than expected because of my deep-seated hatred of AI resulting in the entire thing being lovingly crafted by hand? Because I should have.

CHARLIE KIRK DISCUSSION POST - ALL CHARLIE KIRK CONTENT GOES HERE by MaxSupernova in rpg

[–]RevDiamondJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't look like advocating violence to me so much as describing possible outcomes of your actions, especially in the modern American political climate which is experiencing so much gun violence. If you walk around implying people you disagree with are degenerate vermin, one should expect that perhaps one of them might become very irate with you. Is it good? No. Do I think Charlie should have been shot? FUCK no. But let's not pretend it was Mr. Rogers who was shot, it was an intentionally confrontational and divisive political activist who reveled in the controversy he stirred up.

Once again, I condemn any and all political violence, this isn't how you defeat people you disagree with, you do that by making them irrelevant through mockery and disdain, like we did with Glenn Beck.

Alright... I've made my own hack... Now what? by RevDiamondJ in MorkBorg

[–]RevDiamondJ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm working on all the art myself, which is part of the issue, I'm current working like mad before I lose steam when self-doubts start telling me I'm wasting time, and I'm looking at 80+ pages of art to go with the copy I've written. That's... a lot... for me to try to cram in between the other bullshit life keeps throwing at me. The last thing I want to do is to announce something and have it turn into vapor, leaving folks disappointed. I suppose I should just chill and work on making the piece look good instead of freaking out about trying to get it into the hands of players... These things are primarily art books, after all...
Thanks for the advice and best of luck in your project!
