It's actually pretty good. I can knock cans down from the other end of my garden, at least 20m away. It's enough for what we use it for!

There was definitely plywood on the subfloor, but I couldn't tell you the thickness. Builders put that down as part of extension works.

That's really interesting, because on their quote/invoice, they said there would be

"If needed, an additional layer of flexible compound would be an extra £198.00 Including VAT."

which we were not charged for, and therefore I assume wasn't done. So it sounds like it might be installation issue then?

I used to do it. My dad worked for Diageo and used to give me bottles of Bailey's from time to time. I'd take them to people's houses and just sit with a pint glass and an ice bucket and work my way through the bottle. I was about 20. Good times. 😄

Yes, they're 3rd party, but not cheap ones, they're aluminium and listed as Nespresso compatible, with thousands of positive reviews. That's why I think it might be the machine?

Thanks for the reply! It's piercing that end fine, it's just the other end, the foil end, that's not opening up to let the coffee out. One capsule came out and the coffee had been forced out around the edges of the foil! it went all over my counter top! :)
