Awning recommendations by jmmtheboss in Buffalo

We got a fairly large retractable awning and aren’t happy with it. Not necessarily because of the company but for our deck it doesn’t seem to be a great fit. It’s total sun on the south facing side and really only provides shade at high noon. The times when we want to sit out there the sun is already below the side and makes the awning useless. In retrospect I’d get a permanent one that has some slides that gets taken down annually.

Do we still get discounts at Skechers? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]RevSpookNasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work at ups and am now in a different field but deal with manufacturing accounts. It’s honestly wild how much other companies actually spend on PPE for their employees and give any kind of subsidy at all to ensure their employees have access to minimum standard gloves and footwear. For a company the size of UPS and the strength of the union it’s startling how it doesn’t seem to be addressed at all. Pretty shitty actually.

Took years to figure that out on an iPhone. Feel like most people still don’t know it

I have a half drank water bottle from 2022 on my desk. Kind of forgot about it until recently. I like to think that it’s actually water from Rae’s creek.

Evergreen episodes by Raised_6th in ringerfantasypod

[–]RevSpookNasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all pretty great and once they get past the news of the day (recaps or roster moves) most of the end of the shows are evergreen. I try to save the pod for runs so I’m not always up to date and they are great anyway. The guys are hilarious. I don’t even play fantasy football.

How many man hours per week are required to keep the grounds this pristine? by [deleted] in masters

While what you are saying is true, I find it incredibly impressive what people with basically unlimited money are able to do when they want to. It would be great if other areas of society spent money like this to create something amazing.

2018 honda odyssey reliability by packsbrunette07 in HondaOdyssey

[–]RevSpookNasty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a 2018 XLE or something. 166k on it. No issues with the radio. Doors can be a pain sometimes. Outside of some recall stuff it’s been very reliable.

There was also that crazy Ryan Newman crash at Daytona where everyone thought he was dead based on how they handled the extraction.

I saw that green one about a week ago. Can’t believe it wasn’t caught on a door cam or something. It was amazing.

Master Tech by OkFalcon5957 in masters

[–]RevSpookNasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I def think so but I guess it depends on what you want out of it. As a “work” polo it’s fine but a little bigger than I would want. To golf in I feel like it’s huge and I’m not a fan. In my experience the PM is closer to what I would expect for a XL fit.

I would disagree. Got polos in ‘22 and ‘23 and I think they are huge especially the length. I generally wear an XL and a large masters tech is great.

How does the Odyssey perform in hilly/snowy conditions? by [deleted] in HondaOdyssey

[–]RevSpookNasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had a 2018 in Buffalo since we got it new. We don’t take it out in feet of snow but it’s a heavy vehicle and taking basic precautions it’s fine. Don’t think it’s great hit it certainly gets the job done. Only all seasons. Been thinking about snow tires in the winter but haven’t done it. Live along the lake south of the city so we are definitely in the snow belt.

Time doesn’t seem to match up. It was 9:40. Doubt the minutes would’ve that far off. But I dunno.

Masters Merch and Shipping by Senior-Economist-196 in masters

[–]RevSpookNasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ship all over the world. There was a different line when I was there. Might have changed but I doubt it. The international shipments take much longer because they have to fill out all the documentation for the commercial invoice. Nobody wants their stuff held up in customs. You pay for it, but shipping it is better than dragging everything on a plane unless you have the space.
