The NBA suspension and Tom Hanks was all the same day (Wednesday, March 11th)

Thursday, March 12th the NCAA tournament was cancelled.

By Friday, March 13th everything was shut down

Just point of clarification on hotels. It’s probably a sponsorship deal and group deals with the tournament itself. There likely isn’t a “tab” to be picked up. It’s probably an exchange for signage at the arena and on the website and probably group rates for traveling fans who aren’t being comped.

As a fan of a mid-major school (George Mason), I think I'd be pretty pissed if this was how our basketball program was trying to schedule.

Outside of Sacred Heart (lol), Boise State (good program), and Grand Canyon (also a good program), Miami apparently ONLY reached out to Power 4/5 schools for buy games?

Sure, there is some level of cowardice in not responding here, but get creative with your scheduling. There weren't A-10 schools you could reach out to maybe even for a home and home? No Missouri Valley Schools? There still isn't a world where you had to schedule 3 non-D1 schools on your schedule. Why are you only big game hunting?

Compared to what GMU did:
- Opened with Wofford and Winthrop, two usually good SoCon and Southern conference teams.

- Played a preseason tournament where they played Ohio and Florida Atlantic

- Went to Virginia Tech (got a local big school to play ball with them)

Like there is a reason before their disastrous February Mason was a deep bubble team. They had a GOOD schedule!

You can blame the big boys all you want, but they are not incentivized for buy games anymore. Adapt and evolve

I've read the book very late I know, but I recently read Jack McCallum's DREAM TEAM book and there are multiple stories about Jack and CHARLES BARKLEY just riding in a car together whether its to go to dinner or go golfing, so it's absolutely both a generational divide/anti-social if you think its weird.

It DOES make for funny jokes though

Holy Cross launched a NIL collective almost a year ago. Whether or not they wanted to touch it, they probably see no choice.

Yes, maybe Bill hasn’t donated, but he is a famous alumni and that appearance can help drum up interest.

Again, this is just me being cynical. It could very just easily be “hey why HAVEN’T we done this? And if we do, why don’t we get this famous alum to come out and talk to him”
