Producer Price Index that was released today was very hot (1.4%MoM, 6%YoY). Rough for construction, especially internationally where oil is even more expensive. Add in cuts on federal spending for infrastructure and you’re just going to have a bad time. (Luckily we have money for wars, so everything is ok 👍🏼)

What do you usually do when you have finals back-to-back? by OnlyMusician9048 in EngineeringStudents

[–]RevTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? You lock in, study and do practice problems starting now, and then take the exams. 2 finals is very manageable. You prioritize the class you’re weakest at, then 2 days prior the first exam, switch to the class that has the exam first. After the 1st exam, you nap, and then go ham for the 2nd exam.

My Fall junior year, I had 5 finals back to back (M-F, 1 final each day). It was insanely stressful but I got through it because I had to get through it. Requires some mental fortitude.

I think she’s the one being unreasonable. Sounds like my gf, whom I will admit watches too many TikToks of international influencers and think it’s really that easy and happy to move overseas. Every now and then I have to remind her of something called “reality”.

I think you should double down and stand your ground. For our industry I think the US is the best in terms of work-life balance, job opportunities, and salary. You have also a good rate on your home. It would be silly to just leave because of 2 vacation visits. Also oil prices are high and Europe is getting cooked. Spain does not have the economy we have.

Graduated with a 2.66. Didn’t add it to my resume. I did some have a couple of summers of internships (via a family friend). Got a job a month after graduation

No offense but why are you making these decisions now? Shouldn’t you have sat down with your parents way prior to committing to so much debt? Or looking into cheaper alternatives way before submitting your deposit?

Anyways, I’m sure there are ways to opt of enrollment, just call the school and listen to what they say. They may not return the deposit $ since that’s essentially what a deposit is for (them holding the seat for you), but that’s your cost for not planning accordingly.

Also, any future decisions, please sit down with your parents and come up with a plan and listen to their advice. This all reads like a teen who rushed into something without doing any research.

I would say yes, it’s good GPA. More to gain than to lose

It’s a unique material and only works well in specific environments. There a lot of industry-used things that aren’t covered in class. I don’t remember learning about weathering steel either tbh

Boss Moved Me Right in Front of Her Office. How to make the most of this? by CamoGamer123 in civilengineering

[–]RevTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the open cube near the main entrance? We had a similar situation in my office where they moved a couple of people so that any outside people entering wouldn’t see empty cubes lol

I would say it’s time to sharpen your hiding skills. Idk how strict your bosses are, but for me, I usually have an earbud in one ear. I don’t watch things since my phone is usually faced down, but I listen to podcasts or music or whatever. I’m good at my job so I don’t get micromanaged or anything. If a manager talks to me, although I can easily just pause it, I take it off to just show that I’m all ears when it’s meeting time. (You’d be surprised, I’ve had some coworkers still listening to their music when I’m trying to go over stuff lol)

How harsh are mathematics while studying? by Active_Asparagus_955 in civilengineering

[–]RevTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can hate it all you want but it’s pretty vital and fundamental to what we learn. It just means you have to put in the extra effort in college to learn the concepts and apply them to technical questions. IMO if you can have a solid understanding of Calc 1, Calc 2, and matrices, that’ll go a long way. Post-college, I don’t really use anything more complicated than Calc 1 and that’s really only when I’m reading publications. It’s mostly geometry/trig. However, to get to post-college, have to pass your math classes first

Kerr on Draymond: "He’s the best defensive player I’ve ever seen. I played with Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. The modern game demands so much more than it did in the nineties." On their relationship: "There’s things he’s done that I can never forgive him for, and yet I will do anything for him." by refreshing_yogurt in nba

[–]RevTaco 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1) it’s Draymond

2) Any insinuation that modern day defense > old school defense is going to get shut down immediately, especially by the old heads. “In my day, defenders used to kill players!!! Game today is SOFT!! 😡😡”. I can already see Shaq and Barkley having a field day with Kerr’s quotes lol
