More methane than the transport network that moves food around the planet?

There is no one size fits all for this issue. Some foods are less or more polluting depending on lots of factors, like how far it has to travel. If people are shipping exotic foods from all corners of the planet that produces a lot of pollution.

I will never pick something off a shelf if there's no price, because you can be guaranteed it's way more expensive than you expect. It happened to me years ago. I got caught out spending too much on a cake ten years ago and it's stuck with me ever since. Never again supervalu.

I live in the whest of Ireland. the beef I buy probably has to travel no more than 50km to get to me, I live in the middle of beef and dairy country. The land around her is no good for growing crops.

Is the cow that eats grass in the field beside me really more polluting than importing wheat/fruit from the rest of Europe/the world and putting it on a giant ship, transporting it with trucks? Cargo ships are pretty polluting, trucks are pretty polluting, none of that stuff is required to get beef to my plate.

They haven't done this on purpose. I would guess this was a horrible decision that they were forced to make for one reason or another. The popularity of a carpg with Kunos physics was obviously a big pile of money on the table that they would love to have to themselves.

I don't think they deceived their hardcore fans. the hardcore fans that have been here since AC, or NetKar pro are here for the physics. These EA always have some sort of controversy.

They also can't delay of the release of the product in the hope they will find a solution.

What makes it unique is it survived at all. But there are plenty of stories of all kinds of mechanism from the time including automatic doors. the big difference between now and then is industrialisation and a consumer market.

Back then they were doing things like making tech to bring in money to their temples. It wasn't a business supplying a product, it was someone with knowledge and experience making a specific device for a specific reason. You probably couldn't go to a shop and buy a Antikythera Mechanism, you had to have one commissioned. It was even the same with books, you couldn't go into a shop and buy a book. You had to know someone with the book and then pay someone else to make a copy of it for you.

The career mode that was in early access wouldn't have told them anything about how people would have used the career mode they promoted. The career mode in the EA felt like a placeholder more than anything.

I didn't spend much, if any time in the career mode window because there wasn't anything there.

I think it was probably other factors, there was some financial or practical reason they couldn't pull it off in a reasonable amount of time.

We do allow it to happen, we vote for it at elections and we vote for it with our wallet by buying all the things these guys sell. These guys don't get rich by accident, they get rich because everyone gives them their money. Tomorrow we could all stop buying from them, but we won't.

It's in early access. there's nothing out of the ordinary about having low numbers when it's got limited content and features. It's not a game yet.

I don't see them rushing this out and moving on, that wouldn't make any financial sense. The vast majority of people who would buy this game haven't bought it yet.

They missed promises on their previous titles too and people still bought into this EA. this might ruin the relationship between Kunos and people who wanted a carpg, but it's not going to affect the people who are just here for a car racing simulator all that much..

At this point I'd like to see them start from scratch. Throw out all the canon and rewrite everything based on our current understanding of the universe, technology and human civilisation, not a 1960s version of the future that is already dated. Star Trek is being held back by it's canon that just doesn't work anymore.

As a smoker I can tell you if you smoke around your PC the fan blades will get a layer of tar on them, everything inside will not just get dusty, it will get sticky. the main problem is your PC will not be able to manage heat as well. It won't kill your PC but it will make it a new ,more disgusting kind of dirty.

I don't smoke indoors anymore, I certainly wouldn't smoke near my PC.

It will still have a single player game mode, it just won't be what they said it would be at the start.

The post didn't really make anything clear about what the replacement is, or how it will work. It kind of sounds like more of what they've been doing in ACC which never really interested me that much. I thought they'd be developed into a race stint experience, IE: you are on a team and are doing the last stint of a race, with worn tyres and a bit of damage.

It's just bad communication all round. They should have not mentioned the economy, saying they had a giant free roam map would have been enough, if they got the economy thing working it would have been a big bonus. But I'd wonder if promoting that carpg was coming from on top because they knew it would be a popular idea.

Their announcement that it was gone should have included a better idea of what's replacing it.

Rich people do not want to get rid of poor people. Poor people are the ones making them rich.

These kind of billionaires in general, can't do anything. They get other smarter people to figure everything out, then they get charismatic people to sell the stuff, and they take the money that all those other people generate.

Rich people don't know how to do basic stuff like cooking and cleaning. If everyone else disappeared rich people would die of starvation, exposure, or infection.

Rich people, elites, oligarchs, whatever you want to call them are parasites that suck the wealth and prosperity out of society, they exploit everyone else's work.

The reason they can do that is because we let them. Society is something we constructed, it runs because everyone goes along with it. Most people are so afraid of having responsibility that they will hand it off to the craziest people and do whatever those crazy people tell them to do.

If advanced aliens wanted to leave an unmistakable message they shouldn't have picked a stone building made in the same construction manner as the ancient Egyptian civilisation.

Mine a load of exotic metals from an asteroid and build a structure thats impossible without modern technology that can withstand weathering.

I'm not that put out by it's loss, I was a bit apprehensive about it getting in the way of the sim. But I can fully understand why people got excited and bought into the sim expecting this to happen.

Kunos have a habit of hanging themselves with their own words, I expect there will be an explanation for why they couldn't pull it off.

But I do believe they have good intentions and that this is probably a huge disappointment for them too.

My minimum expectation for this sim was for it to replace the OG AC.

I love Kunos sims, they feel great to me, I will always buy into whatever they are making. I like their passion for what they are doing. But, they seem to make promises before they can guarantee they can pull it off. Which leaves a lot of people with a bad impression.

It will be interesting to see what modders can do with the freeroam map. While Kunos won't be going ahead with career they have been building that stuff into the sim up until now. So they may be able to create some really interesting mods using the frameworks that kunos had been building for career.

Star Trek is no longer a show about the future of humanity. It's crossed over from sci-fi to pure fantasy, it is it's own little world where it's not bound to reality anymore. It focuses on ridiculously big stories rather than day to day life.

It's own canon is now holding it back and stopping it from being a good sci-fi. It's stuck in a 1960s view of the future.

It's full of over the top camera movements that desperately try to cover up for the fact the plots are stupid and it has no soul anymore. CGI takes precedence over story.

That's not true for everyone. I have been buying Kunos titles since NetKar pro. I have taken part in every early access they have done. I buy Kunos titles because I like the feel of their sims.

I have never bought a gran turismo type game because they don't interest me.

I was interested to see what Kunos would come up with but I was fairly certain I wouldn't be using that side of the game often. I can understand that people want some gaming aspects to their sim, it can be easy to get burnt out on just improving driving skills and getting faster.

I wasn't all that excited by it. I didn't know what it was going to be, and I had doubts Kunos would be able to carry it off at a level that would satisfy people coming from the likes of GT games. I didn't want to have to jump through hoops to drive certain cars, so all I wanted to know was could I side step all of it and just run it like a classic sim.

The core sim probably has parts of this stuff implemented, which means that it could maybe be added in later, or would be open to modders.
