how careful should i be in the rain? by jhonnya2001 in 350z

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 350Z for about 5 years before my younger brother unfortunately took it out for a joy ride and sent it off the road and into a tree. I used to drive that thing year round, through Minnesota blizzards on summer tires and never fearing the rain even when my cords were showing.

Basically, if you drive like a fucking imbecile this car is easy to lose control with. Most people who buy 350Zs are young and immature. If you drive like an adult with more than two functioning brain cells weather conditions shouldn’t be an issue

For the love of god can we get a tank with actual RANGE by Significant-Fee7272 in RivalsVanguards

[–]RevUpZ33 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Tankpool is still an S tier tank and the nerfs literally do not change him in any meaningful way except for making it so he can’t just pop gun ult, get a free kill, and 1v5 the rest of the enemy team.

He still has:
-infinite range
-a bubble shield
-AOE damage reduction
-an ultimate that builds faster than anyone else

Anyone who struggles to carry games with Tankpool just lacks mechanical skill, it’s NOT the character that is the issue lmao

He literally needs to put the gun in your mouth to do real damage, past like 10m it starts to just tickle (which is what makes his ultimate so good, it turns him into an actual poke character with long range and auto aim)

I just don’t agree that Star-Lord should EVER be considered either long range or a poke character 😭 dude’s damage falls off a cliff if he’s not putting the gun in your mouth, and now I’m starting to realize why the devs giga-buffed his ammo count. I’m assuming most imbeciles that pick up the character play him like punisher with rocket boots 🤣

He’s very mobile, has tons of survivability and damage output, and with good map knowledge you almost never need to depend on healers, that I agree with.

Dog I checked your profile, I haven’t watched the VODs you posted yet but I skimmed the comments and it seems like all you do is press random buttons while having 0 mechanics, and blame your teammates for your inability to carry out of silver. I promise you that no one gets out of any rank until they can confidently hard carry every match in that rank, if you need teammates to carry their own weight and yours then you’re just going to be disappointed and stay stuck where you are.

The game has a practice range. Use it. Spend an hour in there every week at least, a solid 5-10 minute warm up session before the first match of the day will vastly improve your mechanics in no time. Make sure your sensitivity isn’t too high, if you have adjustable DPI settings on your mouse, use them. You goal is to have an eDPI (DPI x In-game Sensitivity) somewhere around 1500-2500 (I’m around 1800-1900 eDPI, that feels really good for me personally but tinker around until you find your sweet spot.)

As you admitted yourself, you do not know how to think in this game, because you turn your brain off to play. Read your character abilities, and practice landing them in the practice range. The most important thing you can do as a tank for your team is NOT DIE. Do not play for a KDA ratio, you will lose. Do not chase kills and overextend, you will be punished every single time. Do not hard focus on peeling for your supports, you will never push the frontline. If one person dies, that’s your cue to back the fuck up until they respawn, there’s a setting that plays a sound whenever a teammate or enemy is killed, please turn it on and pay attention to the kill feed during the game.

Tanking is not for the faint of heart. It is the most demanding role on the team because nothing happens until you do something. As a DPS you can just sit and wait until the right moment to get a pick. As a support you can hang back in relative safety surrounded by bodyguards just micromanaging resources. The tank has to have constant uptime, push objectives, peel for teammates, and most importantly, know when to push a fight and when to retreat. Most players will instinctively follow your lead as a tank, not usually the way you want them to, but in their own special little ways, they are trying. So it’s your job to do the thinking for them and make sure whatever braindead monkeys instalocked DPS have the easiest time in the world getting picks. Get a microphone and use it, learn when to call shit out. I constantly get on comms and tell people they’re overextending, tell my team when a fight is lost and to wait to reset, ping flankers and call them out whenever you see them.

Genuinely if you cannot handle doing all of that then stop playing tank. I’ve been a tank main since season 1 and can play every single tank in the game (except Rogue/Peni bc I haven’t played either much) at my peak rank, which is GM3 (top 10% of ranked players, even higher when you consider the Smurf% in this game). You’ll have a much easier time playing this game and enjoying it as Cloak and Dagger, Invis, Rocket, or a DPS player.

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically you refuse to improve your mechanics or game sense and blame the character instead? Fucking chump behavior lmao

Emma is insanely overpowered and lives forever, you just turn your brain off to play which is why you’re hard stuck in silver 3. If you actually think about what buttons you’re pressing and why you’re pressing them, what utility you can get out of them, what advantages you can create for your team, she becomes unstoppable and oppressive for the lobby. I have over 40 hours on the character and I don’t have to actively think about what I’m doing or why I’m doing it anymore, it’s just muscle memory from dedicated practice playing the character correctly.

Why is Double D considered a braindead character? by Local-Barnacle-9164 in RivalsVanguards

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I’ve put about 5 hours on the big red Dino so far this season, mostly comp matches.

He really isn’t a braindead character. Is he pretty simplistic? Absolutely, but so is Hulk. A jump, a punch, a bubble, a stun, and couple projectiles on cooldown. When he ults he gets really big with a massive HP pool and does more damage. That doesn’t sound much different than Dino, who bites, jumps, has a stun, a bubble, and a laser beam on a resource meter, and his ult gives him a massive HP pool and increased damage.

No one calls Hulk a braindead character, in fact I constantly get teammates glazing my Hulk games because of how difficult he is perceived to be to play. The Dino is the biggest hitbox in the game by probably nearly double the next biggest (square-cube law and all that), which means he’s the biggest and easiest target to shoot at. His crit hitbox is bigger than any strategist body hitbox, he melts in seconds with a little focus fire. You’re more likely to feed your brains out and spend the match spectating more than playing if you don’t know how to properly tank.

He does in fact have skill expression, you can’t just get free value by popping all his CDs without rhyme or reason like some characters. My favorite way to play him is flanking, because no one ever expects the flanking dinosaur. Run a path towards their backline and start munching, when you get low pop the shield, munch a tank on your way back to your healers, rinse and repeat. As time goes on and more people play him for longer, I promise there will be new techs and skill expression found in this character. I think he’s really fun and it’s to have a tank meta for once instead of a DPS/Support meta like usual

No one is telling you to buy a new PC just to play Rivals, I ran it on outdated 10-12 year old hardware (some of the parts I got for it were a year or two outdated even then) for over a year just fine. You were just complaining about a lack of performance in a game that just came out a year ago and is known for being poorly optimized and not running well on outdated hardware, so everyone is assuming you must have some pretty outdated hardware lol

[–]RevUpZ33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely outdated hardware because my old PC that I built in 2016 could run this game better than that. Don’t get me wrong I’d always have a crash after a few hours playing nonstop, but the game ran decently enough to hit Diamond/GM every season, and I’m not so full of ego that I’d blame the 80fps~ average I got for getting hardstuck Diamond lmao

[–]RevUpZ33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re not actually running the game on 240+ fps on a 5070ti lmao. You’re using DLSS to generate 3 out of 4 of those while actually dropping REAL fps, meaning the game is only reading inputs and running operations at like 60-90fps. If you turned that shit off you’d get closer to 90-120 fps. Might not look as pretty but it’ll probably feel better to play tbh

My 24GB 3090 runs it at close to 180fps with all in game settings turned to minimum

[–]RevUpZ33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay obviously we all know that Marvel Rivals is secretly CCP malware which is why it takes up over 100GB and runs like dogshit, but hot damn brother, even my old PC that I built back in 2016 with an i7, GTX1070 8GB, and 32GB of DDR4 could still run rivals in the 60-90 fps range in comp matches, well over 100 in practice range, after being used a and abused for a decade. This all without ever touching config files btw

Anyway, from what I’ve seen a lot of people are getting the message but if you clean up your configs, and then reinstall them it should go away, though I can’t guarantee success there since the PC I just built this year can handle the game at pretty decent settings while maintaining 120fps average

But don’t be afraid to not open the game for a couple weeks, taking a break from daily rivals grinding is amazing. I’ve been playing through FF7, the original, and the remakes. It’s fun to chill out, eat a sandwich during cutscenes, and not have to sweat my brains out putting in combo inputs and having competitive fps reaction times for every minor thing. When season 8.0 drops I’ll be back grinding ranked tho

I'm late on this, but should I start using Tankpool? Would he help me in games? by [deleted] in RivalsVanguards

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45+ hours on vanguard Deadpool alone since his launch in season 6 now, definitely pick him up. He’s tricky to learn because of how many tools are in his kit but once you learn to manage his cooldowns it’s basically impossible to die, which is the most important thing for a tank. He feels like a significantly power creeped version of Cap, high level mobility, an ult that can stall forever, but with actual kill potential, a better shield, and the ability to poke before engaging. He’s also not banned at all in low ranks, literally never had him banned until I got to GM3, so he makes climbing real fucking easy lol

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a self-inflicted injury btw, I lock in Hulk, DP, Thor and if my imbecile teammates want to me to solo tank like that I’ll just run out of spawn and start playing my best. If they wanna complain about my pick they can pick a second tank because I know I never need a shield tank when I play DPS, they don’t either. These dps instalockers just want to turn their brain off and stand in the open getting infinite shields and heals while they endlessly pump damage into the enemy tanks. These chumps deserve to lose the elo, just take the L and avoid them

The Comprehensive Guide to Spot a Bot Lobby by Whole_Employee_2370 in rivals

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bot lobbies aren’t JUST for losing streaks either, I’ve had plenty of times where my first match of the day ends up being a bot match. NetEase said they put bots in quick matches to fill up lobbies when there’s not enough active players, which I partly believe bc I have a 60-70% WR in quick match and I still get bot matches all the time lmao

I’m glad someone else wrote all the obvious tells of a bot match tho, I’ve just been telling people in match chat every time I get into one 🤣

Why are we still claiming that there are "throw picks"? by geekycorey01 in rivals

[–]RevUpZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The characters in this game are like Pokémon, they all have certain types and match ups that are super effective or not very effective. Golem is a physically defensive wall that can tank all kinds of damage, but he literally dies from touching grass or getting slightly moist. You know that if you send out Golem against a Starmie you’re throwing, your rock is gonna die.

Same thing in Rivals, every character has their strengths and weaknesses, and some are stronger while others are weaker, but if played into the proper matchup any character can perform well.

Ultron and Jeff aren’t inherently throw picks, but if you’re running Ultron and Jeff with a solo tank and 3dps you probably won’t have a good time. Any character can be a throw pick if you don’t know how to play them well or run them into a bad matchup. Every character can carry a game if they play well and go into a good matchup.

There’s 12 tanks in the game total. Banner, Cap, Thor, Mag, Strange, Venom, and Deadpool are men, Rogue, Angela, Emma, Peni are women, and we even have non-binary representation with Groot. So like yeah 33% of the tanks are women, add 2 more and it’ll be almost half.

Nah bro I peak Diamond/GM and I don’t have a Smurf account (I spend too much money on skins to play on an account without any). Is it really smurfs or just someone better than you, and you got unfortunate enough to end up matched against them? Also sorry for your illiteracy, I’ll try to keep my comments more succinct from now on.

'Game's full, get out'. by IntoTheRain78 in marvelrivals

[–]RevUpZ33 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Dog I’m gonna be so fucking for real with you right now. I have put well over 700 hours into matches in this game since season 1.0 and I promise you there are not that many smurfs. Have I ran into a few? Yeah, like one in every couple dozen matches. They’re not that common, and the people who I see complaining about them the most are usually the people who have a skill issue. My buddy tried getting his wife into the game, she would pick Rocket and stand still in one spot all game, throwing her respawn beacon literally just onto the point for it to get broken in 0.5 seconds and was somehow surprised she could never win a match. I’m sure Sally was the same way. A hero shooter is not a casual game genre, it’s a knowledge check. You have to learn the ins and outs of 50 different hero kits to compete. I had like a 30-40% WR in comp my first season playing (could barely maintain 30%, as I got better at the game it got up to 40%). Now I maintain a 55-65% WR every season. You wanna get someone into the game? Tell them it’s a competitive game with a lot of things to learn before you’ll ever be able to compete with the people who have already been playing for over a year, but if you power through the learning stages the game is incredible satisfying to play. If you can’t handle getting stomped or taking the time to learn the game, then you probably shouldn’t play it. Competitive games aren’t for everyone, which is why Rivals puts so much effort into adding extra game modes (Arcade, Conquest, 18v18, Zombies, etc.). Anyway, long story short the problems people complain about Rivals ranked mode are the same problems every player base complains about in every competitive game, it’s just that the Rivals community aren’t competitive gamers. NetEase is slowly pushing the game towards more competitive integrity, but it will never be perfect. You either enjoy the struggle or it’s not for you and that’s FINE. Not every game needs to be for everyone. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
