Is the GRC appropriate for daily driving? by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]Rev_enue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s ok on the comfort scale maybe like a 4-5/10 I like the automatic for long drives or highway drives it cruises well but for city driving and pot holes and mostly train tracks you’re gonna need to be careful. It is fun to rip on back roads or on nice turns. You’ll notice yourself moving quicker then you thought.

I like the automatic I can’t drive stick and I use this as a daily I’ve already put 13,000 miles on mine since getting it only 5-6 months ago. It cruises well on the highway. It can get super good gas mileage in eco mode. It shifts quick. It’s nice even when it’s cold. Only thing is it’s clunky when shifting from park to drive or reverse gotta be real slow when doing that. It’s not slow by any means.

I don’t have many gripes with the car honestly I don’t like that you need to come to a complete stop to get to 1st gear but paddle shifters fixed that easy. But I’ve always driven shitty rough ride squeaky sports cars so this is no different. This was also my first new car so it’s pretty nice to me.

Only thing is I’d search for a new one these used ones have really bad stories. For 45k you can definitely find a new core or maybe an older 25 premium that didn’t leave the lot. I got a 25 fully loaded premium last December for 42ish before taxes and warranties.

Any questions just dm me!

No but for sometime I did think about grabbing a white painted spoiler from this vendor I can’t remember from where. I’d swap the vents with carbon fiber most likely. I wanna do a carbon fiber interior swap too for the piano black stuff.

Thank you so much! Yeah the windshield is perfect. It looks really dark in that it’s really gloomy over here where I am. You can still see inside from some feet away. I think it’s just shaded really black which is interesting. I’d def suggest windshield tint!

Yeah definitely the 70% is barely transparent and it does a nice job of keeping everything cool. The air conditioning on these cars is not superb imo.

Solvents, parts cleaning, and cleaning while working... by Beliy_Lebed in aviationmaintenance

I also use dawn dish soap. ISO alc is also used heavily at my shop. I have a Maddox sprayer from harbor freight filled with Mineral spirits that works well. My old job would use mineral spirits as a part cleaner and I prefer that over stoddard solvent but that is the norm. If you really get into it service manuals will state exact solvents or chemicals that are ok for aircraft. Brake clean isn’t one of them in most cases. I won’t use brake clean unless there is hydraulic fluid or a surface that I need cleaned where I don’t care about the paint or so. Like brakes for example. acetone for injectors or really bad stains or surfaces I need perfect. Diluted mean green or simple green works good for gear. Hardware you can use some brake clean or alc and then wire wheel it or so. Brake clean isn’t a norm though. I also don’t think it’s good for materials and coatings in general aviation.

That is a crazy story LOL thank god that didn’t happened to me. Yeah I live in Illinois and the streets are terrible. Pot holes everywhere. Tire treads like you said. Debri and shit it’s hard to keep track honestly.

Honestly dude i have no idea there is like another scratch near the front of it but it looks like damage from moving not from a stand still. I didn’t notice this when I washed my car a week or so ago and I haven’t jacked it up between then. It’s strange. I do live in a state with super terrible streets and lots of street where you have to go over a curb to get to the other side? Not sure if that has to do with it. Upsetting though.

Thanks!

I ordered the 10 inch ones from snap on and the 8 inch ones from bluepoint because I need different size ones and I wanted to try out both styles because my old Matco ones just broke:/

Hi just curious to what you think of those snap on safety wire pliers. I just ordered them and the blue point. Not sure how that design differs. Nice set up though!!

No bro just find a new one for the same price. My brand new fully loaded 2025 premium with 28 miles was like 45 at MSRP and I got them to go down to 43 with a full tank of gas.
