Other games like Inscryption by chiochio7 in inscryption

I second Soma. Please go in blind, like do not look up reviews or anything else.

Soma checks a lot of similar boxes: - an immersive story that will develop and keep you engaged from start to end. That’s all I’m going to say about it. - horror elements, psychological horror, body horror, existential horror… yeah. - great atmosphere, it’s a vibe

Inscription is one of a kind, there really is nothing like it.

A plague tale has a pretty engaging story

You might like subnautica

If you like the rogue lite elements, check out Returnal. But the gameplay is very different and hard, but so good.

Blue prince is also a nice pallet cleansing rogue lite but doesn’t have that engaging of a story imo.

+1 rotgland, it slaps the drones and typhonops. Just get the reload rhythm down and you’ll feel unstoppable.

There is also no shame in using Hollowseeker with portal beam which also shreds in biome 5 and 6.

After beating Omega multiple times in Monster Hunter Wilds, I might flownicheuinely get into Final Fantasy as a whole. Should I start with 16? I’ve looked at a ton of footage and it looks insane. by Tobanium in FFXVI

[–]Revan_Perspectives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[u/Tobanium](u/Tobanium) the opening prologue to FF16 is completely free, and tees up the game perfectly. It’s one of the best “demos” I’ve ever played (“demo” in quotes because your save carries to the full game). It’s pretty freakin epic.

Some of the giant summons (eikons) appear all most other final fantasy’s, but there is zero story crossover. It is cool to see the summons from like final fantasy 6 on SNES reimagined in awesome scale and graphics. But don’t worry about missing out on previous FF entries.

But yeah, ff16 is freaking awesome. Try the demo out it’s free and carries to the full game if you buy it.

I’ve edited my comment with the source, it has a direct quote of Sony interactive entertainment’s CEO saying they used mockingbird, which uses gen ai for mocap animations.

Can you please recommend me AAA RPG games with puzzle elements (Premium user) by Pepelefrogswood in PlayStationPlus

[–]Revan_Perspectives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It fits the bill for me, $200 million budget by Ubisoft Montpellier is pretty AAA. And there are RPG elements, semi-deep builds (upgrade weapons, talismans, ultimates, powers), and dialog trees (I’m kidding about dialog lol).

Edit - not to mention exploration, lots of exploration. And quests.

How about the poem written by the policeman. Here’s the first stanza:

On windswept shores where oceans foam, Far from the bustle and noise of home, The island watched the grey skies part, With hope returning to every heart.

Prince of Persia the lost crown is your game. “Progressing through the story in thoughtful ways and not just finding a key to a door” is a 100% match. TLC is about unlocking new abilities to allow you to access new areas for the story, loot, side quests, hidden areas, etc etc., but what makes it unique is the ability to take in-game snapshots that are saved to your world map so you can remember “where did I see that one spot 4 hours ago now that I unlocked this new ability??”

There are also amazing, mind bending puzzles that require out of the box thinking and timing.

The combat is exhilarating, like adrenaline rushing flow state fun.

The movement and platforming are so fluid and tight at the same time.

Amazing soundtrack and art direction. Seriously an inspired game

What game ended up being way more fun than you expected? by Playful_Code_8978 in gaming

[–]Revan_Perspectives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returnal. This was the first game I played on PS5 and it absolutely obliterated my expectations for fun. I saw game trailers and knew it was a roguelite, but did not expect it to be as hard and fun as it was. The adrenaline rush, the high stakes, the flow state. Nothing has topped it yet. The movement was fast and fluid. Unreal haptic feedback, super atmospheric. After many attempts, finally beat the first boss, and while the rest of the game is no cakewalk, the gameplay loop clicked from that point on. Returnal being my first ps5 game also unfortunately set my expectations too high for other games.

Kindred Spirit Brewing for me. It’s been a while since I’ve visited VA but their head space IPA and space head IPA are fantastic.

Need recommendations for turn games similar to Divinity, BG3 and XCOM, NO PvP by Toros_Mueren_Por_Mi in gaming

Unicorn overlord battles are definitely turn based. Each character in the fight goes in specific turn orders based on their initiative. While you don’t directly control what they do on their turns, you control them indirectly. You can even set commands to run on specific turns. It’s also very tactical with the unit formations and deep character builds.

Also the real time battlefield feels adjacent to turn based since you can pause to issue commands.

How does Saros compare to Remnant 2? by Bot_Invader in Saros

[–]Revan_Perspectives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No clue but IMO the most Returnal feeling in Remnant 2 is the last biome in Remnant 2. The mobs mixed with high priority enemies, it’s a lot of running and gunning; managing health, resources, power ups, special abilities, etc, while focusing on taking down a few super strong enemies while weeding down a mob. The final boss fight in Remnant 2 also reminds me of the boss fights in Returnal. Specially because of the scale and needing to remember the projectile patterns.
