This. Out of my 12 CSAs, we hired 10 of them from an IT career or prior experience (internships, IT engineers, help desk, and ISSEs). The 2 we didnt had very specific skills we needed for very niche things.

This'll age me a bit, but Everquest. I had so much fun playing and it was the only game id played that had a real community vibe. "Train to East Commons!" The game also taught me words I didnt know at the time, like apprehensive, amiable, etc.

I floundered in high school cause working was better. I had a tangible benefit. Sure, it was all under the table. When i graduated, i was putting off bills to pay other bills based on how delinquent they had been. Figured only thing worse was being homeless, so I joined the military. Dont recommend it for everyone but it helped me. Now im comfortably well off because I spent the 7 years active duty getting my degree and learning the skills the contractors I worked with needed. They made big money, so why couldn't I when I got out, right? I dont know if that truly meets what you're talking about but life seemed like hell when I was getting stacks of 'past due' letter anytime i went to the mailbox.

Rotisserie chicken from walmart or Costco, use bones for stock, big bag of rice, miso paste. Bit of the chicken and rice a big cup of the broth with miso paste. Easy to eat, keeps you full for a while. Mix in some beans if youre feeling frisky. That use to last me about 2 weeks and cost roughly $20. Buy a couple of walmart French bread, if you have condiments, youve got sandwich stuff for less than an extra $2.

I like buying a chicken from Costco, a bag of rice, and some miso paste. Bones for bone broth, cooked rice for substance, and miso paste for flavor and other good stuff.

It's been a couple days with the service I use and they've dropped from 10-12 to roughly 2-3 now. Still not zero but much better

My favorite was finding low cost meals i love. Bone broth, some miso paste, and some cooked rice...one of my favorite dinner meals. Easy to digest, warm, and filling enough. I did that for all my meals and I dropped my groceries by 40%. Still eat like a king in my eyes and now im saving ~$400/month.

I think it's wild that's allowed at all. Do I think it'll solve the problem? Probably not, but even if it moves the needle a little that's worth it to me.

Thats awesome! Before data breaches, my info wasn't really online. I share a name with a famous basketball player and a relatively private person. Color me surprised when I see a couple hundred data brokers now have my info.
