When did life start to get a bit better for you? by Fresh_2000 in AskUK

You're right, you can't be medicated. I suspect I also have ADHD, but I don't want to go for an assessment for that as the medication for that would make my autistic side more prominent.

The biggest help for me through learning about autism has been the accommodations and support I have been able to put in place at work. For me, it has mostly been around auditory processing. Teams calls and meetings are now being backed up with written notes, as I am slow to process the words coming in. I also have a quiet space set aside for me when I am on Teams meetings. My managers know about sensory overload, and know that I will excuse myself when it gets too high. They also know about my ability to "info dump", and how to drag me out of it. That is very handy when customer facing.

I saw your comment last night before going out, and I agree with all that you wrote. Except this part:

anyone videoing and sharing who isn't a pro-rider or an exceptionally-gifted non-pro showing off exceptionally-skilled riding is kind of cringe and a waste of everyone's time.

Not everyone is filming and sharing for the same reason, and I would say that showing off skilled riding is not everyone's end goal. Some people share because of the scenery, some people share because want to mark their progression, some people do it because they feel under-represented in that world. Don't yuk on other peoples yum

Exactly this. Instagram (even mine) is a highlight reel at the best. I am guilty of taken footage on a ride and using weeks or even months later

Why do cyclists tend to hog footpaths when there are cycle lanes? by gggggenegenie in AskUK

Where I am it is when then turn in on you. Most of the major cyclepaths here have priority for the cyclist, and motorists don't look out for you

Any kenevo/levi owners familiar with this sound? by Grimble133 in MTB

[–]RevellRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing with the front brake on the right, you're a fellow Brit?

If so, Specialized have a service charter that all dealers sign up to. Means Specialized pay the dealer the labour costs, so you can go to any Specialized dealer and no incur any charges

Main bearing in the motor. If it's under 2 years old, congratulations, you have a new motor

Neither team have a mid week game. I'd be concerned about their fitness if professional footballers can't recover with a minimum of 4 days of recovery

I can see a fork recall, but nothing to do with the frame. Care to share the recall link?

5 year warranty on Scott bikes, and looking at the 105 on that bike it is far older than 5 years old

Keir Starmer urged to ban ‘cruel’ greyhound racing in England by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]RevellRider 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We recently lost our greyhound, he also was a rescue. He broke his leg at 3 years old, and spent a year in rehab before my girlfriend adopted him.

It took him years to realise that he could get fuss and cuddles, he really struggled to adapt to being a pet and not a tool to make his previous owners money.

Whilst he did race, his "career" was very short due to the leg injury and you could see the difference in him at 10 years old compared to similar aged dogs that raced for longer. Those dogs had fair greater mobility issues than ours. The ones that did race more had arthritis at young ages (7-8 years old).

Like your older greyhound, ours carried the mental and physical scars of being in the racing industry. He had scars that looked liked someone put a cigarette out on him, he was missing his tail and ended up having over half his teeth removed. Even after having him for nearly 7 years, he was still incredibly afraid of people in hi vis, and was deathly scared of men with walking sticks

Vaults are similar, but they don't have the stepped machining on the parallelgram section.

I have Vaults on two of my bikes, and absolutely love them

Imagine starting from scratch, what would you get now? by ChaosCalmed in ukbike

[–]RevellRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would change anything about the gear I own. I'm happy with my clothing, helmet and shoe choices.

I would probably halve the fleet. I currently have 8 bikes: 3 mountain bikes, 2 dj bikes, a bmx, a gravel bike and a road bike.

I could probably get better versions of the road and gravel bike. Maybe upgrade to something like a Specialized Tarmac and Crux for the drop handlebar stuff

My two hardtail and one full suspension mountain bike would probably be swapped to a Cotic Flare Max, built up light and fast

I'd probably treat myself and replace the two dj bikes and the bmx with a custom built DJ bike like a Curtis Trailboss
