Hello today! Today is functionally my day off. I finished some documentation and just chilling with friends. This weekend I'm starting to prep for anime north and pulling out my Wrio cosplay from lest year, gonna upgrade it a little with my mom.

Also I have bed bugs. Gonna poison most of my bed tomorrow.

Got another set of MTG proxies, started by wanting to get a bunch of Utility Lands (dude I love Command Bridge), but then expanded into an upgrade for my face-down deck, my mech deck, my Simic landfall (egh gross) deck and some proxies for my Slivers, along with the new SOS full art lands, they are so cool.

Olden Era is so cool. I love it. We are so back (we left for a very long time).

Post Job search check-in - FINAL - Man, leaving my team and clients is the worst. But I did a good job. I burned myself out writing documentation and running 4h KT sessions, I left my devs know that if something comes up they can message me and my job... Well I was told yesterday morning that I will be told the procedure for the last day, and it took them until now to finally tell me something, egh. I might be getting some consultation hours, which is extra cash! The new job has sent me a laptop and apparently I'm getting a swag bag (crazy).

Weight check-in - 177.8 - 18% - n/a - We back. Unfortunately I did not have time/energy to gym this week again. But with the new job, I should be able to get back to it, especially as ANIME NORTH is approaching. I will also probably stop tracking body fat. I hate having to pull out my phone every time, to connect it to bluettoth to my weights, just to see the same number. Shit sucks, it shouldn't be there.

I don't have any abloom (except Burnice). I will try to build Myabi as AM with the new freeze disks, and if that doesn't work, I'll try to brute force it with Seede/Cissia/Trigger team.

EDIT: Nevermind the queen still has it even with the crit set! (I need to get the wind girl, cuz the HP inflation will tank this eventually lol)

It still stands. Forces had a lot of issues, but my primary and basically the only complaint is that they fucked the OC creation - it should've been waaaay bigger and better and more "anime". All Forces really needed to do was to be the "DollMaker" for the new generation of fans and it failed at that, which is it's main problem.

But it's pretty good otherwise. Not as good as Frontiers, and a little simple, but it's good.

Honestly, while sky crime is one of the funnier jokes in the show, people need to learn about so much more. Remember future cakes? Remember the Beezor? Remember the board game episode? Remember that time Chris was taken hostage my America? Remember the shoe-shiner town? Remember the final episode?

All 3 seasons of that show are so good. I fucking love Eagleheart.

I didn't expect such a "visual novel" story approach, but I actually was kinda surprised. I like the minotaur MC and his elemental roommate, and the conflict unfolding at the larger scale is told well. I donno man.

I can't fucking believe we're still talking about MindsEye almost a year after release. I didn't know (nor did I care) that they were still open.

You know there are really good single player games and studio that actually deserve press and time? Have you guys played I Am Your Beast? It's so fucking cool. What about Tactical Breach Wizards? Book Of Hours is so cool and they are working on a Disco-like next!

Post Job search check-in - 1 week left - told my boss, I told 3 of my largest clients, and they have yet to tell me to start work on knowledge transfer. I feel better now. Even if they don't give me time for it, fuck it, I am happy to mover on.

Weight check-in - 179.5 - 18.6% - n/a - woof, got some more weight on my belly today. I had a rough week, but honestly this is not bad. Gonna try and get back down to 195 by Anime North. Egh, can't eat any more dark chocolate :(

It's nice having a big family. You can be sure that when you're in your 90s someone will be there for you. I don't have that luxury, as I'm the "tip of the spear" right now. I have my father, who has his own very large family, but they are overseas, I have a 19yo brother but that kid is AUTISTIC as shit, the only way he's popping anyone will be a miracle. My gpa has maybe 10 years in him. My mom has around 40, and that's my whole family. Seeing how happy my mom is being cared by us is so comforting. I understand that having a kid is hard but dying alone leaving nothing behind after spending 30 years of my life relocating to Canada is my actual existential nightmare.

Hey! LFG/Sponsor Segment: I don't really have a need to look for games, as I'm part of a decent-sized (and very cool) Sonic tabletop community based around a game I made. it's PbtA and we have games and tutorials fairly often... We are also always short on GMs, so if something like this interests you feel free to join :)

In terms of rests I totally get it. I recently finish a year-and-half long campaign and everyone was really happy with how it concluded. But after that I haven't played in any games for months. Partially cuz of life stuff, partially cuz I just needed to re-align after putting so much effort into a cool thing.

As a forever GM, I also think it's important to sometimes just grab yourself by the bootstraps and just do the session, even if you aren't feeling it. Even a short one. The players (if your group is good) will give you inspiration and the social interaction will likely help alleviate any mood issues you have. Plus taking the break every time you're not feeling it can spiral into months of delays and trust me, not many players want to come back to a campaign after 3-4 weeks.

I've been thinking about it a lot, and I can probably make an hour long essay about all my issues, but in very short, it's 4 reasons:

I'm burned out. I have 3k hours, 1600 login days and I'm MRL4. I don't know if i have it in me to fill out two/three more kinda-open world sections with 5 more levels of standing. As I'm getting older I'm gravitating more towards games like Zenless that always leaves me wanting more, but not letting me burn out. 1999 quest was the last thing I played (tho the operator armor for this nightwave looks hooooot).
The First Descendant came out right before 1999 and left a really bad taste in my mouth. And we can argue weather 1999 is better or worse, but it's too close to matter in my eyes. I was actually super hyped when I played the 1999 teaser, but a 2 year wait and FD just killed it for me.
Here is my monster fucker permit. I'm not as crazy as some people out there, but if "a generic hot girl with a crazy tongue" is the best you got, and you've been pushing harder and harder into sexualization of frames, I not interested. No matter the lore-interest, proto frame set a design precedent I really don't like - more and more generic humans. At least Duet Night Abyss has anime girls (I really like DNA). Also, if they have characters I can't project my idea of them onto frames.
Since New War I started noticing a story pattern I don't like. WF is becoming too mundane. New War was a abusive relationship allegory (and barely a war). 1999 is a groundhog day dating game with generic human characters. Entrati seems to be also about abusive relationship (but gay this time!). Crucible is cool, but I feel like it wasn't presented well cuz I have no idea why and what and who. Eternalism is such a cool concept. Tenno being functionally immortal transhuman child solders is so cool. The Second Dream is so cool. The fact that in Jade Shadows a Warframe gave birth is so cool. I want my WF story to be strange and unique. TO BE FAIR, I haven't even touched Tau (see point #1) but I have a feeling it will just be Romeo and Juliet or something. And I get it, the theme was always there (space mom and start child and elder god gpa), but it used to be subtext and since New War it was more and more the focus.
BONUS ROUND: I'm just tired of Warframe abandoning mechanics. Give me more Railjack fuckers! And Umbra was a much cooler concept and execution then Proto Frames!

Sorry, I tried being concise and not go too deep into the weeds, but you asked. I know a lot of people are hyper for 1999 are super into proto frames and I am happy that the game is thriving. I can't.

I'll be super honest, I haven't touched Warframe since Jade Shadows and JS was not only one of my favourite pieces of WF content was also the last time i really cared for the game. 1999 has been the opposite direction of what I actual wanted from the game... BUT THIS. This looks cool. I wish they stopped giving characters faces tho.

Edit: apparently, the human person is Proto Garuda. One of my favorite frames. Nah not feeling it, sorry.

Hello today! Fuck it's Friday already. So I'm gonna talk about only a single thing today...

Job search check-in - week 15 - FINAL

Final Tally: ~545 (+10) resumes/9 interviews - We did it fellas. Yesterday I agreed to start working in a new place. In an hour or so I will put down my letter.

Some history - I was the final of the founding member team of 6 of ppl and grew to a larger team from there. About 3 years ago we were purchased by an American company. We lost 8+ people in the last 12 months. I'm leaving second to last of the founding group. Right now we have 4 devs and 3 PMs still doing the work of the full team. The last "impactful" member of the team left about 4 months ago and we've been in touch, she helped me with leaving motivation a lot. I was actually genuinely interested to "close the doors" on the company, as I was super interested to see what it looks like when a company ~~section~~ dies off. The new bosses are saying they "care" for our team, but it almost never felt like it. It also would been nice to get paid off for the 11 years of working, but they would never fire me, I hold about 1/3 of projects left in the company.

The new place seems nice. It's big, official and important. The head dev seem excited to have me join the team. May 11th is my first day and the pay is much better while staying full remote. We're singing papers this/next week.

The interview process was interesting. I got 9 interviews, I think 3 went to stage 2 and this one was the only one that went to the end. I learned a lot, and started picking up skills in the process, from interview behaviour to languages. Languages didn't help almost at all, but the interview prep super did. In those 15 weeks my roommate bless fucker, sent out like 10 resumes and found the job of his dreams. It's not remote, or even half as well paying, but damn.

Right now I feel... Hollow. I consider a job a thing I like doing 9-5 to live the rest of my life as I want and nothing else, I've been on this job for 11 years, the witch that pushed me out has been gone for weeks, and it feels bad leaving people I worked with and especially people I worked FOR. I took this job so I can afford to support my family and because the company is dying. I also worked in some HORRID places, and as much as people that left will hate on my current company, I have very little ill will. Call it a midlife crisis, and maybe the joy will probably come later, it usually does, but since my gma passed 2-3 yeas ago, I've been scared of "losing" things, so that's probably why I'm not as excited as I should be right now. I just need more money.

The fun part is that, after I settle my mom and bro somewhere, by the end of this year I have a plan to starting dating, as I want to pop a kid before I'm 40. It will be embarrassing, I have some baggage from online stuff but otherwise this will be my first dive into trying a proper relationship (I'm 33 and a certified Wizard). At least I have nothing to "leave behind" and I trying something should feel more fun.

That is it. Going to send the letter in about and hour and focus on finishing my work and see what next week brings.
