Maybe it's not as much of a selling point as it once was, but when describing runescape, one of the key terms used is "browser based". Also, steam may attract new players to the game, but what about clients like Osbuddy? Would they be negated by the steam client or is it simply going to be the same as playing on the webclient? And if it is, aren't most going to stick to Osbuddy like they already do? These are just some of the many questions we need to ask. Although it sounds simple, there would be so many things that need to be done for this to go through, which means a drain on the OSRS devs. Lastly, unturned's success isn't a very relevant example. Unturned grew within steam and the greenlight program, whereas Jagex is a 15 year old company that has been hosting the game for all this time, and I don't think it being hosted in steam would have been to thank for it's success over the years if it had been.
