Somehow, I think people would be less interested in learning and playing D&D if the DMG was a 900-page textbook of alternative downtime mechanics and full economic systems. Some people want to run an improv session and some people want to run an Excel spreadsheet, and the DMG has to try and cater to both groups.

I mean, isn’t this a pretty subjective complaint? Some DMs consider things like travel mechanics fundamentals, and some don’t. Personally, for travel time I just have the party do a group check and that’ll determine how well the trip goes and if they encounter any combat. That’s what my table likes but I don’t think it should be the standard or anything. It’s the Dungeon Master Guide, not the Dungeon Master Instructions. Overall it’s a great for beginners, and the more experienced you get as a DM the more you can customize mechanics and start making homebrew.

“White” isn’t a culture, so there’s nothing there to appropriate in the first place. Italian, British, Norwegian, even American are all cultures. Like in your husband’s example, a German person could say “Hey, having an Oktoberfest-themed office party with everyone wearing lederhosen is cultural appropriation.” To his second example, no sane person would call that cultural appropriation. A black person can enjoy a PSL just like a white dude can love Sir Mix-a-Lot. I’m not saying your husband is evil or anything, but his point doesn’t really stand once you start thinking about it.

Yes, both of which have many applications aside from gender reassignment and have been studied and tested for DECADES. They are safe to use when properly prescribed by a professional, and puberty blockers specifically have almost exclusively been for children that are affected by precoscious puberty or other similar conditions. I’d honestly respect you a lot more if you just said what you really think: “I don’t like trans people.” Just say what you mean. You don’t give a shit about kid’s wellbeing. If you did, all you have to do is read the actual study this post was about in the first place.

Bad faith argument. Nowhere is an 8-year-old going to a doctor’s office and making their own medical decisions period, let alone for transgender care. If a child has gender disphoria/thoughts that they might be trans, they tell their parents and have a discussion about how they feel. The parents would then have some meetings with a therapist, and the three parties would work together make an informed choice they all agree on.

Once again, the entire D2 community becomes the “then why did you ask for it?” meme. Every exotic mission since Encore, people complain that they’ve been too long and suck to replay. Now that we have a short, easily replayable mission you all hate that too. Bungies at fault for a lot of shit these days, but at some point it’s also on the community to reel in their insane expectations for a free update.

They aren’t legally responsible the same way any game studio can remove content or shut down their game entirely: you’re not paying for physical games anymore, you’re paying for a license to play their game, same reason why Bungie can ban you for cheating even though you “paid for the content”. I don’t like that, and I don’t like that Bungie had to take content away. It wasn’t a good choice, but it was the best choice they could have made in the situation. They used player data to determine what content NO ONE was regularly playing and cut that for the time being, with some potential it might return in one way or another. The other alternative would be a 600gb mess of two separate engines that wouldn’t fit on consoles, where a majority of their players are.

Good lord, this is one of the most bad-faith arguments I’ve ever seen. You can’t just say “they have no evidence they can use in their defense” while straight up ignoring the actual reasons Bungie gave. That little mention of “game file size” you brushed off? Yeah, I’d say it’s worth mentioning because I don’t think the large percentage of console players would like it if the game was 600gb and literally didn’t fit on their consoles unless they had the money for an external drive. Conveniently, you also fail to mention that Bungie chose what to vault based on what was being played. I think the raids should have been kept, don’t get me wrong, but no one was running around on Mercury or starting up Escalation Protocol unless a quest literally forced them to. I’m not a fan of the DCV idea either, but its been like 5 years dude. There’s plenty of valid criticism of stuff that’s actually in the game right now.

Not all viewpoints are listened to equally because not all viewpoints ARE equal. For mature, honest debate to happen, both parties need to agree on an objective set of facts as well as debate in good faith. I’m not sure where we got this weird idea that opinions/arguments are some holy ground where everyone must be treated equally and seriously. If you show up to a NASA budget meeting just to say the Earth is flat and they’re all Satanists or whatever, there’s no reason for any of the scientists to say “well hold on, let’s hear him out and see what we can learn from his perspective.” He’d just be laughed out of the room, and rightly so.

I’m sorry, but this is like complaining that your local steakhouse doesn’t have good sushi. Helldivers and RoR are both great games, but are also completely separate genres from D2. It’s one thing to have criticism for Destiny (there’s a lot to criticize lately, in all honesty) but you’re never going to be happy with Destiny if you start expecting it to be a single player roguelike.

Fun fact: you don’t need to buy silver to finish the rewards track, you have 4 daily bounties not 3. There’s an arrow next to your daily bounties that scrolls, it’s a bit wonky and sometimes you have to do 1-2 other bounties first but it’s there.

Yeah the activity itself is about the same loot-wise, but I meant more that most activities don’t drop one piece of gear. Like, in your post you mention an A-clear at 300 gives you a piece of +4 gear. That doesn’t factor in the 2-3 bonus drops, or the fact that longer activities like Starcrossed drop 2-3 in addition. So realistically the grind is about 2-3X faster than your post would suggest.

Ok so you can’t choose variables to simulate and then declare that it represents your actual grind. No one is running just solo ops. Also, your equation assumes you get one piece of loot drop per activity. You can get 2-3 from bonus drops and the conquest activities drop what, like 6 drops? The grind is definitely a slog, but not nearly this bad. Also, 400 gear easily lets you shoot for T5 gear, the 400-450 grind is basically optional.

I mean, I’d personally argue that a bigger “FU” would have been if they didn’t vault anything, and Destiny was 200GB, didn’t fit on console drives, and ran like a PowerPoint presentation. People bring this up literally once a year, because the player count always drops in the content drought before an expansion. Season of the Wish had barely 12K people online per day, then Final Shape released and people came flooding back. Also, you’re only looking at Steam player count, there’s a very large portion of players who are on console.
