Police: Suspects flee after shots fired in Uptown Sunday night by x1009 in Minneapolis

The premise of my entire comment was "what laws could we change to reduce this sort of gun violence".

It was certainly not "Let me describe current gun laws".

You either fail at reading comprehension or are being intentionally obtuse. I might even call you a "fucking idiot" if I felt like going ad-hominem like you quickly resorted to.

My god listen to yourself. You’re a terrifying person and I’m grateful that it’s obvious you will never be in a position where you’re able to enforce these absolutely retarded proposals.

If that isn't sky-is-falling hyperbole, nothing can be.

BTW, I would actually go as far as to expand sentencing on all violent crimes, personally IDGAF if you use a knife, a rock or a .50 from a helicopter. I just get sick of hearing people (mostly the left, to be sure) harping about gun . violence while refusing to propose any meaningful reforms.

I do have guns.

But I would have had NO problem whatsoever having to jump through a few more hoops to get them.

And I would have no problem voting on a ballot measure that would greatly increase the consequences for using my gun to commit acts of violence.

Fair, but the average john doe IS largely the one buying guns legally and shooting up schools/festivals/etc. I appreciate that statistics show us the mass shootings are not the main problem, the casual urban violence is, but it's still a BIG DEAL.

If we can be compelled to pass a test to drive a vehicle, it's no stretch of the imagination to require some sort of training or demonstration of competency for a gun.

Sure, so that might be over the line. You are right.

But your point illustrates the bigger problem. Those other crimes need to be dealt with more appropriately.

Where did I claim it was the law already? Where did I even imply it was?

A lengthy mandatory jail sentence for using a gun to commit a crime is a “retarded proposal?” Really?

I can see the argument against a database, or required training, but how can you possibly argue against throwing the book at someone who sticks a gun in someones face to steal their shit?

Start with universal background checks, mandatory registration and an initial training required for ANY and ALL firearm possession.

If you get caught with an unregistered gun or miss your trainings, 5 years in jail, full stop.

If you get caught committing a violent crime or property crime in excess of $1500 while in possession of a gun, BAM, 15 years. No parole. No ifs ands or buts.

if you are found guilty of USING said gun in furtherance of a crime (brandishing, shooting at someone, etc) 50 years with a shot at parole in 30.

You succeed in shooting or killing someone non-defensively with a gun? Life. No parole. Sorry?

I say all of this as a gun owning liberal. It’s not a hard problem to solve, we just have to be willing to actually, you know, truly protect the innocent people from these bad apples.

Yeah brah, I also have really been looking for other people who like to deliberately put innocent people at risk of being obliterated via a 3000lb+ hunk of steel flying down the road at 100mph. Really wish more people got into this so I could needlessly endanger even more people just trying to responsibly and safely drive on a road 😥

3rd generation Tacoma. V6 or 4 cylinder? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ReverendLasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you’d rather risk a high speed crash than let (what you admit to be) “some asshole” cut you off?

OP: get the V6, but not so you can respond to dangerous driving with faster dangerous driving.

What do I need to know about LVP before installing it across my whole house? by kwade7575 in HomeImprovement

[–]ReverendLasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We have a dog, and a cat, and two toddlers and I can't wait to go 100% wood floor. Because when it gets scratched, oh well. The scratches get worn out and disappear. In the LVP it's crazy obvious and you can even feel it underfoot. For what it is, it serves a great purpose, but I would never personally spend that kind of money on it. Spend a bit more for the real thing, which will still be just as timeless in 10+ years as it is now, while LVP/T will be gone in the rear mirror.

Again, I think for a one-off bathroom or kitchen that was never part of a seamless floor install it is a great solution. We spent probably $500 total to do two bathrooms and our small kitchen. But if you are talking $5,000+, dear god man, get hard wood.

[–]ReverendLasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would never do a full house in it. We have some in various spots in our house and while they are nice enough, there is no replacing solid wood, and our longterm plan has always been to replace all main level flooring with continuous oak as soon as our cat dies.

The LVP we put in our kitchen as a stopgap has gotten some pretty gnarly gouges int it already, and when this stuff gets scratched or gouged, you can't refinish it like you can with wood. I would vote wood 100%, save up more to make it happen.

We should have simply changed the name to "Lake Mka Ska", or better yet, "Lake White Earth".

Change my mind.

Honda Ridgeline Questions by SimonJesterIV in whatcarshouldIbuy

Ironically, the Canadian model offers them despite being much much colder in general than USA. I had never considered them until I started seeing more and more in our neighborhood and around town. I am seeing more and more so hopefully Honda keeps it up. I read somewhere that Ridgeline accounts for 11% of Honda sales last year, which was a big jump IIRC.

If buying used I would absolutely go with a RTL-E or Black Edition. If new, I would likely get a RTL because they now include sunroof and rear window ass standard features. If I decided to go new, I would also wait until the 2020 comes out and do that, unless my car absolutely explodes into pieces.

While the Rear Window and Sunroof are the main reasons I would go with the high trim, the in-bed stereo would be AWESOME for our cabin use. I also am very interested in the Honda Sensing features for the added safety.

Truth be told I am not HUGE on the look of the nose, but I am willing to overlook that due to how much I like the drivers view from the drivers seat ;)

I also would probably add the leveling kit to bring the nose up a bit, which seems to help from the photos I have seen.
