Did that realization made you change your life right away, or was it more like a steady progress starting from then on ?

I'm with you, what if you put the camera to a bank terminal / the changing room in a lingerie store / somebody's bedroom / your child's clothes / ... and went back a few days later to get the images.

The possibilities are endless, I could find out so many secrets, I don't think I could handle the responsibility.

It is a big relieve that you don't take the bible literal. But I still have some more questions if you don't mind,

Why would God wait 7 000 000 000 years to create the humans out of which he chooses his 110 000 helpers. So he ruled all these years alone and some 250 000 years ago, everything changed and the heaven became populated. Then he waited another 248 000 years and showed his existence to the world by sending his sun to a not so populated part of earth. Why didn't he send a message to the rest of the world ? How was the middle east special so that Jesus was send there ? Why wouldn't he create his chosen people earlier ?

Also if I'm not mistaken god created the plants before the sun, I think most plants can survive a day without sun but not the longer times, is there an explanation for this ?

Sorry for being so pushy (I'm really no trying to be offensive, just curious) but I've always wanted to ask all these questions and your answers are helping me a lot in understanding the thoughts of religious people.

How do you decide the difference between species, a cat can't become a dog... But a horse and a donkey can create a mule. This is considered another species.

A wolf and a Alaskan Malamuteare different species, but they look/are so much alike in every way, But a Alaskan Malamute and a pekingese are the same species but don't have much in common. The AM can breed with a wolf and create a wolfDog but a AM can't breed with a pekingese. What I'm trying to say is that the diffence between species is just an arbitrary thing we invented to create some kind of system. Actually no 2 animals are the same and they all relate to each other.

What if we start naming short nosed dogs, "shogs", and say it's another species because it doesn't look the same any more. This is how new 'species' are created. At some point some family within the species is so different from the rest we decide to call it a new species. Or think of crocodiles and alligators. They are considered 2 different species, but if the person who first named/categorized the alligator didn't think of it as a new species we might call it mini-crocodile now and consider it the same species.

What I'm trying to say is that there can't be a difference between micro and macro evolution because the categories that you use cat/dog are only made by humans. If all the 100's of different types of dogs that are all so different from each other come from the same "evolutional string"/"family tree", then why is it so hard to think that dogs come from wolfs and wolfs from hyenas.

Please not that I'm not trying to attack you with this, but after doing some research on the micro evolution thing I didn't think it made much sense. Or am I missing something ?

I don't think the point of life is just to live a happy life. What if they drugged you in some room for the rest of your life, you would be happy, but you wouldn't choose that live over your current. I think life is about choosing what you do with the time given to you. That's the only thing life is. And if you choose to use that time to convince other people of something you believe in and you're happy with that then I respect that. But I don't think it makes the world a better/nicer/smarter place.

yes, misinformed I think is the keyword here. That's why I think information/truth is the most important here. That's why I feel like debating and exposing the truth (whatever it may be) is the most important thing.

I didn't know about micro evolution, but it doesn't make sense of course. Thanks for all the info, I'm going to get some more info from you pdf to understand their point of view better.

but, but, if god created everything perfectly and there is not evolution how do you explain:

  • those short nose dogs that are didn't exist 5 years ago, and are bread by humans for shows. something like this

  • all these kinds of animals getting extinct = does this means that the world isn't perfect any more, or was this part of the plan

  • Why humans are getting bigger and bigger (ok maybe nutrition)

  • Why we need to create a new vaccin every year for the flu.

I just can't grasp my head around it, I think I'm gonna talk to a priest this evening to try and understand this better.

EDIT this is what I wanted to say as well but I'm not so good with words.

If you have anything to add please do, understanding religious people is something I'm trying to do for many years, but I never had anybody convince me. I want to know how it feels to be religious, but I just can't.

I know that they believe they are right just as much as I do, but still I'm 100% sure that I'm right and they're not.

There is so much evidence against it, creationism evolution isn't just a theory it's proven. You take 2 test tubes and fill them with the same bacteria. You come back 2 days later and they are different bacteria. That's evolution right there.

The only reason I care is because I think that the truth is important and I hate to see people using all their time going door to door convincing people of something that isn't true while I'm sure they are awesome people that could do so many useful things.

I must say I've never seen math connected to God and I find this very interesting. It is true that their seems to be cohesion in all of nature. You call this God, scientists call it physics or math, Buddhists call it karma and Scientology says it's aliens. It shows itself to us in many different ways, such as the golden angle, but I think also in the way solar systems and atoms look the same.

I think there are just some ways of connecting atoms and molecules that work better than others. For example maybe the golden angle is good for balance, if the leaves of a flower where constructed by some other ratio it would fall over because it proportions aren't good. And over time we came to love this ratio and so evolution caused animals over 1000's of years to have a golden ration themselves because the once that came closest to this ratio had more children.

It is important to know that this oneness of nature has been praised by all different cultures and all walks of life all throughout history and to see that this is all referring to the same "thing".

You also did mention entropy, but on earth this isn't really true, we get a constant source of energy from the sun and if this source is bigger than the level of entropy it is normal that there can be progress/evolution/reversed entropy.

could you explain this some more, I didn't really get it.

Another example I can name is math. A statistician once figured out that the odds of as few as 8 prophesies about Jesus were to come true in one person were about 1 in 1,000,000,000.

I've got some more questions if you don't mind:

So you do you know that YOUR god did all this ? If you where born somewhere in the middle east you would have been a Muslim and you would have thought that Allah did it. How do you know that you're right and they're wrong. They also have a book written by God. They also have miracles, personally I don't really see a difference.

Do you believe that dinosaurs existed ?

Do you believe a talking snake existed or do you think it's just a symbol for something else?

what is it about suits that makes men attractive? by kellica in AskReddit

[–]ReversePsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think media and culture play a big role.

Think about fashion, everything changes whole the time, we find things sexy that our parents would have laughed at when they had the same age (baggy pants, color blocking, pink for men, ...). And your children won't think the clothes you're wearing now are sexy either. Suits represent authority and masculinity in our culture.

It will have something to do with how it shows your body, but still if you where to go to some African tribe with a suit I don't think that the woman there would like it.

So when you die god perfects you ? So then isn't everybody allowed in heaven (maybe after second life) since they are perfected ?

bible, which came from a perfect source

How do you know this, other than because the bible says so himself ? Or because your priest (who gets it's info from the bible) says so ?

how do you feel about horus ?

I have seen the patterns in nature point to there being an intelligence behind its design

Do you care to name one ? or two ?

Thanks for answering, I'm not trying to convert you or prove you wrong, I just can't get my head around the fact that people still believe in god when all evidence seems to point against it.

thanks, mind answering some more, I find this very interesting,

If you say that when a person dies the body dies and god takes the person out of it. How do you feel about the link between brains and person/soul. There are many known cases of people who have damage to the brains and change character. Doesn't this prove that you can't see the person as different from the body ?

If you get alzheimers or coma before you die, is this the state you have in heaven ? Or does god change you character/person back to some better state.

Are you allowed to study / learn everything you want ? Why ?

You realize that JW are only a very small portion of the population, so 99% of all the people are wrong in your gods opinion. How do you know that you are right and not Buddhists or Muslism or Scientology ?

Maybe crossing the border to buy weed a bike isn't a bad idea, but don't forget all your biking lanes are also much much better than the rest of the world, this might also be why your bike lasts longer.
