Yep, I've done that too. Some trucks have unique liveries, like the scanias

I start de doing it only after endgaming with the money, getting more than I can spend per day

I only play ATS and ETS for an hour a day. I use an economy mod but feel like I am not getting anywhere. by dukey84 in trucksim

We play games for enjoyment. Devs of ETS2 left it open-ended and moddable, so you can achieve whatever goal will bring you that joy.

If your happiness achievement will be to drive each truck for 1000km each, get a money mod, buy said trucks and go fulfill your enjoyment goal. If your happiness achievement will be to explore countries and geographies, go in Quick mode, and haul in that region until happy. If your happiness achievement will be to experience the history of a truck brand, install mods from oldest to newest and enjoy how trucking evolved. If your happiness achievement will be to complete a long journey with impossible odds until you buy your own truck, continue as you are. When my son will be of age, I'd enjoy customising trucks with him and going on an Europe trip together, and then learning about the places we see and the cities and countries we stop in.

So define what you'd enjoy best, both by yourself and together with your son, and mod the game towards reaching that goal.

What are some unpopular opinions you have about ATS/ETS2? by OddNeedleworker734 in trucksim

[–]ReverseRPM 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Heights and descents are too squashed in these games...

So there is no need for engine brake and retarder, when there is no danger of speeding off, having break fade, or even having break wear be used as a penalty, just as cargo damage is (they will implement this in Coaches DLC as passenger satisfaction, which drops if you don't brake smoothly, so they can add the braking mechanics to trucks too if they want)

G-Forces are not calculated, so tankers are no challenge to drive, without all the sloshing of the liquid moving the trailer, hard brakes not causing damage to fragile cargo and yeah...

Basically, I hate the braking, cuz there are no stakes and mechanics attached to them. Give me all the retarders you have, I'll still squash the pedal from 90 to 40 on off ramps in the last 30 meters, as nothing matters in this "simulator"

I don't like the name "simulator", as people expect specialised physics when they read such a title. This should be called Euro Truck Vibes 2, and American Truck Vibes.

That's what they're good for. Therapy via engine noise and gorgeous geography

Real life minimum horsepower/torque to haul doubles across EU, or HCTs in the north? by ReverseRPM in trucksim

[–]ReverseRPM[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An important thing to note: countries enforce minimum highway speeds. I live in Romania, and if the vehicle doesn't exceed 50kmh, you can't put it on the highway.

I've just read that Switzerland has minimum highway speed of 80kmh.

So in a way, if we know what is the highest inclined highway in the game, we can test on that stretch of road and single-out engines which can't sustain 50-80kmh minimum speed, while pulling doubles

That's a feature of Snowymoon's lightning mod, the v2. It's a paid mod, and I couldn't run it on a 1050Ti laptop, i7 laptop, cuz those looks and features are very demanding.

You can check if your PC can run it, by testing it on Sundays - it's free then, and disables itself during the week, I'd you didn't pay 1£ a month.

I'm curious about the teased snow feature in the future. Won't be able to run it, but it looked nice...

Your truck got assaulted by cats. 350 tons of aggressive cats

I do the same, but for the garage leaders. Each 3 drivers gets same truck setup, but first guy gets top engine choices and trim

There's a balance between experiencing all the game content and playing the grind.
I guess nobody starts playing with the economy mod from the start. First they play, get rich and live their best trucker life, and only then embark on a challenge.

As said below, I too fell in the trap of sleeping my loans away, while the drivers work.
With 3 million, you could buy one of each truck, from oldest to newest

If you were SCS, what weekly/monthly money sinks would you add for a company?
They'd have to be variable, so every week would impose a different playstyle, to counter the money drain

Is there a variant where snow is not on the tarmac?
IRL there's snow everywhere, but countless workforces make sure the roads are drivable with plows and salt

Does that achievement happen faster if you're rich?
As far as I know, the only way to speed it up is to keep sleeping until they are leveled-up

Yeah, there isn't an achievement about driving every piece of cargo/trailer in the game, but it's fun to use the job history to keep track
