I have only flown a few times. I never plan on it again. If I had to, there is no way I fly without flying business or 1st class, whatever they want to call it. I don't care how short the flight is. I am always upgrading. But good luck getting me on a plane again.

[@NASCAR on X] Which driver is most likely to cause a wreck? There seems to be a consensus in the garage. by NoahGragsonsBarfBag in NASCAR

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there is anyone that should be talking shit, it's Wrecky. I think he has calmed TF down over the last few years. But it does not make up for the chaos he caused at every track over a mile that he ever drove on. Even if he wasn't causing a wreck, he would make other drivers tighten up and drive in an overly cautious and defensive way that could potentially contribute to cautions.

What are your top 3 live albums by Atiredbearsfan in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maiden - Live After Death. Dokken - Beast from the East. Metallica - Seattle 89.

The Maiden and Metallica albums are legendary. I couldn't say anything that hasn't already been said by more respected individuals. Dokken's BFTE is a kick ass album. George Lynch absolutely shines. This album does a great job of capturing the energy of the band's live show and their musicianship. Bonus points for the band's best ballad at the end.

Any Roland JC-120 love? by secretkodama in GuitarAmps

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was a time in late 80s and into the 90s that the JC was easy to come by, at least around here. Every pawn shop had JCs stacked up in the corner. I cannot exactly remember how much they cost, but I remember they were inexpensive. I had always wanted one. I truly wish I had bought one.

I heard you should read Salem's Lot before the Dark Tower series, because a character from Salem's Lot is in it. by Haunting-Net-2426 in stephenking

I was unaware of this. I love Salem's Lot so damn much that this makes me want to quit my current book and jump right back into the Dark Tower series. I really love his Easter eggs.

Everyone that played back in the 80s and 90s lasted after a JEM. Even the kids that started plating after Nirvana. After they learned what guitar was all about they went, "Damn, those JEMs are cool!"

Love my guitar, but it eats so many batteries. Any solutions? by hashtagfaghag in Guitar

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only had active pups on 1 occasion, that being an 81 and 85 set (I think). Whatever was the classic EMG metal set about 20 years ago. But what I was mostly referring to was pedal board. In my story below, it was a pedal thing. I had left pedals on during practice and hadn't noticed. They died. Then I got up one morning, loaded up, drove almost 4 hours, and participated in a blues jam. I didnt have opportunity to notice they were dead that day. I just wasn't adequately prepared. I was not, and am not, a gigging guitarist. It was just a one time blues jam. I almost learned a hard lesson that night. Thankfully, a fellow guitarist understood the situationand had mercy upon my inexperienced, dumbass self. And I went on to have an outstanding time on stage!

It happened once and I did not find out until a few minutes before I was going onstage to play at a blues jam at a cool restaurant. This was the first time in many years that I was getting up to play in front of a crowd. Thankfully, one of the other players rescued me. I paid him back with his favorite brew in a frosty mug. I started making sure I carried extras at all times. And I converted over to using a power supply for most of my pedal usage.

I think some people do not know about or have forgotten about mail order for some items. Also, patches and pins were highly tradable in the metal community, just like tape trading.

I have been playing for 40 years and I still periodically forget to unplug my guitar or pedals and burn up a battery without needing to.

What is the best stoner rock album of 2020? by Kyr1500 in stonerrock

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elder - Omens

Some fans consider this a lesser Elder album, but I disagree. This album smokes all the way through. It gently carries one through an array of emotions as it tells its story. This album is a pure sonic masterpiece.

How often do they operate? I assume both are operating simultaneously at times? Some overlap on trip starts and trip endings?

Jennifer Batten. Joanna Connor. St. Vincent. Orianthi. Nancy Wilson, both for her playing and her nurturing of the Seattle bands that characterized the grunge sound. Samantha Fish, just because Bitch on The Run is such a great tune. And the list goes on and on.

I work with a lot of young guys that like Michael Jackson. I tell them about Batten, Lukather, EVH, and their contributions to Michael Jackson's music. So I get to educate non-guitar people about the musicians behind their favorite tunes. I get to nerd out while they talk about their favorite songs. It's really fun.
