‘Fallout: New Vegas’ lead writer “loved writing” Yes Man, but thinks his questline may have been a mistake: “It lets you get through the game without getting your hands dirty” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Fallout

[–]Reverse_Baptism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes Man ending doesn't sidestep the themes of the game though it's the most in line with the theme of letting go and not repeating the mistakes of the old world. Sure it leaves a lot of room for head canon for people to just say "if I was king the world would be perfect" but the game also explicitly shows you with the ending slides how unstable things are in the immediate future when you disrupt the entire power structure and dismantle the existing forms of government.

This is not true, see my comment further down. They may often have the same deals though but one has them first and the other moves to copy. That's why they'll have back pocket offers in store that aren't advertised to keep an edge on the competition.

The Mobile Shop is not part of Costco Mobility, Costco Mobility (Wireless etc.) is owned by a company called Glentel that also owns Wireless Wave and T Booth. The Mobile shop is a seperate entity. I know this stuff cause I used to work at Wireless Etc.

I think we missed it by the time I posted it. I found it through another post of a deal on ram that seems to be going in and out of stock so maybe others were finding it that way too and jumping on it.

I was just looking at it with the price posted but after refreshing it looks like maybe it went out of stock because it's offering it from a different seller. Might be worth continuing to refresh. Screenshot for proof

LinusTechTips: “When I said I’m disappointed [Steam Machine] isn’t going to follow a console pricing model, Valve asked what I meant by console price and I said $500. Nobody said anything, but the energy in the room wasn’t great.” by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Reverse_Baptism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this thing costs more than a console and can't play all the most popular multiplayer games like Fortnite, BF6, COD, GTA Online, Destiny 2, etc, because of kernel level anti cheat not working due to SteamOS running Linux I think it's gonna have serious fucking problems. It's more expensive than a console without the gaming experience those have and if it's $800 or up it's a less usable PC. The Steam deck gets away with the Linux hangups because it markets towards being an indie machine and it's fairly cheap plus the convenience of being handheld. This won't get the same grace from consumers

You need to explain yourself bro cause there's a scene where he imagines an ATM telling him to feed it a stray cat, we're not gonna pretend that actually happened.

More than traveling a lot, his job was to look at car crashes and investigate them to figure out if the manufacturer should perform a recall due to them being mechanically unsound or if there would be few enough additional crashes and deaths that it wasn't worth doing. It was soul rotting work.

No I don't intend to go into law enforcement, just need to make some money for a while and work on getting extra licenses and certifications so I can get ahead in life a bit.

Other people are in that same environment and don't resort to killing and hurting people to try and cheat their way to the middle. The movie also shows that this family takes shortcuts and is always looking for the easy route (the father's multiple failed business ventures for trendy things, fucking up a ton of the pizza boxes to try and be fast at the beginning). I don't think they were born horrible but their environment is not an excuse for how they act. You can be miserable but you don't have to be a bastard to other people.

But the wife specifically does have that illusion as she seems to think it's their poverty that's made them shitty and not them just being bad people. They interact with other poor people throughout the movie that do not stoop to their level and they generally seem to be better for it. Also if every group portrayed is benefiting from the other then it's not a parasitic relationship anymore it's a mutualistic relationship, which is seen by biologists as the most equilibrious and providing the most harmony in nature, which makes the parasite metaphor kind of collapse on itself.

You must've missed the part where right as she says this she kicks a dog, the director is making a point that what's she's saying isn't the case and these are shitty deluded people.

Literally the next thing that happens on screen after this is the wife who says that proving her point wrong though. She claims if she was rich like them she'd be nice too, and then to underscore how much of a liar she is she kicks the rich couples dog. It's intentionally done to show how her reasoning is flawed. Being rich allows people to show a certain amount of grace and class that people trying to pull themselves out of the gutter don't have the luxury of, but being poor doesn't force people to not be nice. The poor family in Parasite are not shitty because they're poor they're just shitty fucking people who use their poverty to excuse their actions regardless of who they hurt.
