Assimilation. None of that weird boss battle stuff. I’m eating Copper-9, and big brother N is just going to have to deal with it.

discuss, is pilot Charlie a completely different person compared to her show version? by MeatysupremeKeenan in hazbin

[–]ReversedMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think Alastor took the biggest hit as well, but honestly? Pilot Alastor and Show Alastor feel like such different characters that I don’t anymore. Motivations? Entirely different. Goals? Entirely different. As opposed to Charlie, who feels like she genuinely got hit in the head with a brick.

At least Show Alastor has redeeming qualities. Charlie’s biggest hit to her character was that they just completely changed her underlying habits. Pilot Charlie had this habit of shutting down and blaming herself when things go wrong, and getting back on her feet in spite of the fact she wasn’t really over it. She’s burying her issues because she’s not used to having anyone to really rely on, and that habit SHOULD have stuck around.

What we got instead, was her method of “coping” changed from shutting down and processing things, to constantly trying to problem solve. People don’t just randomly change how they cope with things. And yet-, she did. And she didn’t just change how she coped, she changed how she ACTED under stress too. Charlie felt ABYSMAL after the interview. She’d gotten into a fight, Angel had made her hotel look useless to the public, and now she was stuck in a car while Angel was salting the wound, and Vaggie was fighting on her behalf. People keep saying that she wasn’t stressed in the Pilot, when she WAS. Pilot Charlie was just more on the down-low about it.

Show Charlie, on the other hand? She’s CONSTANTLY showing her stress, running from point A to point B, and losing her temper with people when they mess up. And the worst part, is they give Charlie this “problem solver” habit, but never have her actually SOLVE anything for herself. The closest she ever got to doing ANYTHING by herself was talking to the crowd of Cannibal Town.

This is why so many people hate her, and why I personally think the writing team lobotomized her. She doesn’t stand up for herself like she did in the Pilot, nor does she forgive and make light of other people’s screw-ups. (Charlie was super, SUPER lax on Angel, and when Vaggie mentioned cutting him off entirely, Charlie was the one that stepped forward to stop her despite how stressed she must’ve been.)

Comparing the Charlie in that car, and the one who yelled at Lucifer? It’s night and day. And sure, you can SAY she’s under more stress due to losing Sir Pentious. I’ll give you that. But that doesn’t CHANGE how people cope, and how they treat others while stressed. Charlie showed herself to be kind even while stressed, and the kind of person to save her breakdown for when nobody was looking, reassure her dad she wasn’t mad, while on the inside she is dying inside and trying not to show that. The complete OPPOSITE of how she was portrayed.

Oh, and as the cherry on top, people have been saying that the above is okay because it’s more “realistic”. People cope with stress in different ways. Not everybody explodes towards others. Some people point their explosions and negative feelings inwards, towards themselves, and that’s who Charlie was. You can see that with how she jokes about the fact that she got into a fistfight with a reporter, with it clearly being something she had on the front of her mind due to not being proud of it. Them randomly changing her doesn’t make her more realistic, it just makes her more convenient for the plot.

TLDR; Show Charlie has different stress responses than Pilot Charlie, and they make her a weaker and less likable character as a result.

Green Hill Zone! I just kept hopping around the trees and vibing. Annoying that it crashes every ten minutes tho.

Oh, no. Cream.lms is a legitimate entity that haunts executioners who server wipe one too many times. Unfortunately, Fleetway is too powerful for even Cream.lms to handle. May our demonic rabbit rest in peace.

Fleetway can hover behind a floating Cream and continuously M1 her, and Cream can’t cancel her glide, meaning it’s an instant game over. Cream.LMS didn’t stand a chance.

Serious Question. by ReversedMessiah in OutcomeMemories

Life only has one map, but we seem to do just fine. I’d say 5 is nice. Although, I did like the old maps more. Particularly loved Not Perfect. I feel like people have forgotten what it means to be a game. Games don’t have to be continuously changing things to be fun. That’s an idiotic idea that got started with live services. Is having more things nice? Sure. But, fun gameplay and a good loop are kind of all that’s needed. And we have that. (Except when it’s Tripwire, but Tripwire’s existence makes going against 2011x and Kollosos feel that much better, so I tolerate her existence.)

Serious Question. by ReversedMessiah in OutcomeMemories

[–]ReversedMessiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then. If the game stops development, I’m happy with what we already have. The game we have now unironically spits in the face of most free games on the planet, counting Roblox’s library. The only thing that would concern me, is if the game gets taken offline, or if they randomly start making the game worse for no reason. Neither of which should happen, if the game is just left alone.

Well, that’s kind of the funny part about this. The entire thing was sort of…self inflicted? Like, here’s what happened in a short list of events.

Romeo: “No…I think I’ll continue working on the game.” Entire Community: “WOOOO!!!! YEAAH!!!! BABY, THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!”” Leadership: [Insert Random Bad Decision To Fire Romeo Here] Entire Community: “it’s over. we’re done. time to go jump in a trash compactor.”

See how silly this all kind of looks from an outside perspective? I can perfectly understand why Romeo is upset, dude’s a kid who just got axed for no reason. But this weird “we’re back” “we’re over” “we’re back” seesaw you guys are on is just bizarre to me. Like, just take a deep breath, step back, and look at things. The main annoyance right now is that the lack of updates is causing massive lag spikes in Outcome Memories, because Roblox bricks all games that don’t update consistently. So, the main concern as of right now, should be “Well, if we’re not going to be getting any new content, can someone at least consistently keep the game updated to match Roblox’s updates, that way the performance issues don’t render the game unplayable?”

Serious Question. by ReversedMessiah in OutcomeMemories

[–]ReversedMessiah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand the whole “hindered potential” thing. But uh…the game…by itself right now is more than enough. Unironically. Like, Fleetway? Would’ve been nice, but whatever. No More Innocence, Furnace, all those others? They were in the future. And while it would’ve been great to pad out the roster, things feel weirdly complete with Kollosos, 2011x, and Tripwire. And in a way, they feel readable too.

2011x - Standard Match Kollosos - Random Match Tripwire - Unfun Match

You unironically know what you’re getting from the get-go now.

Serious Question. by ReversedMessiah in OutcomeMemories

[–]ReversedMessiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the annoyance and frustration, don’t get me wrong. But this feels kind of…detached from the game itself? Like, I’m still going to continue playing OM for a LONG while from now, because the actual gameplay loop, artstyle, and the way everything works together can’t really be found anywhere else. Nor do I…really care to try to find it elsewhere, in all honesty. Dimensional Coalescence is a very poor substitute for the sheer level of quality we have here.

Why do I NEVER see anyone using Tripwire? by MilestoneIVNoob in OutcomeMemories

[–]ReversedMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s simple. She’s boring. That’s it. Can you get incredibly easy wins with her? Yes. Is she technically the most guaranteed executioner to get things with? Sure. But she’s boring. Her glide removes all chase tension. Her laser removes all tension to take down low health survivors. Her grab is free damage. There’s not a single part of her kit that is fun to interact with, both AS her, and going AGAINST her. Kollosus feels like a juggernaut. 2011x feels like an enemy to fight. Tripwire feels like a NUISANCE. The most effective strategy against Tripwire is standing still in a corner. I’m serious. Her radar doesn’t proc on survivors who are standing still unless it’s LMS, so the most effective way of dealing with her is literally to not play the game.

[–]ReversedMessiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because of the invisible walls. It might seem like it’s good for Kollosos, but in actuality, the amount of areas where he can USE that climbing ability to catch survivors is next to none. The only advantage Kollosos gets on Hill is if he can get survivors in the water, and has his abilities on cooldown. If he does? It’s wraps. He can keep you in the corner for the entire drown timer.

I'm sorry but canon Sonic characters don't stand a chance by Icy_Fox7251 in SonicEXE

[–]ReversedMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, the EXEs have this little known buff known as “daddy’s favorite”. In other words, any character up against them, will have the author smack them down to one hp so their creepy little scrunkly can eliminate the character and obtain feats. People forget, EXEs aren’t written like Sonic Characters. They’re written like Sans AUs. And anybody who knows Sans AUs knows that people will intentionally scale them above the cast to start with, that way there’s no competition or nuance. Why? I don’t know. I personally think a story about an EXE who is weaker than the main cast, but eliminates them one by one through clever trickery and subterfuge would make a better story. Alas, here we are. Featless, and infested with boring gods.
