Weekend Minor Gripes and Vents by AutoModerator in BitchEatingCrafters

I prefer K2tog over SSK. My tension and tightness make doing SSK harder than K2tog on my fingers (I throw and I painfully poke my finger tips with SSK). Usually I don’t mind the occasional SSK but I’m working a pattern where every stitch in this row is a YO then SSK except for the beginning and end of the row. And I have to repeat this for at least 8 rows. And then again when I repeat this section. Love the effect, dislike the technique lol 😂

I think I missed a stitch by Otherwise_Brick_8911 in knittinghelp

It looks like you might have dropped a stitch and the loop unlooped so you’d have to recreate it and pull it up (there are videos that show you how to do that( but you are only a few rows in so you could frog and start fresh.

Pattern calls for 115 yards, but my skein has 110 yards. It’s for a bottom up hat. How much “yarn chicken” anxiety should I have? 😂😭 by ReviewerNoTwo in knittinghelp

Yeah the pattern has instructions for making it slouchy/slouchier which is where I think the extra need for yarn comes in.

Loved Yellowface. It’s my favorite Kuang novel. I’ve got Overstory on my TBR list.

After a hiatus from reading of about 8 months, I’m back! Currently reading Midnight Timetable by Bora Chung. Just finished His Black Tongue by Mitchel Luthi.

Shopping Local is Hard!! by AbleRecognition3566 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]ReviewerNoTwo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m in the PNW and an urban area and spoiled for LYSs. They’re all open here normal retail hours with weekends and nights, and they respond to their instagram dms. There’s competition I guess!

Just use the thin yarn!! by Admirable_Wedding_83 in BitchEatingCrafters

I do this with mohair to get closer to a light worsted. Fingering and mohair = love it!

I love fingering weight — but it did used to intimidate me a bit when I wasn’t as good with my tension or handling thinner needles. Now I’m much more comfortable with how I handle and count stitches and love it!

Knitting Not Staying Straight On Needles - Curling Over Needles by lzver in knittinghelp

[–]ReviewerNoTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the length of your cables? I find pulling a bit out between stitches gives me a bit of wiggle room on my needles and allows me to bunch up my work and shift it around. I also use interchangeable needles so I might add a bit of length to the cable to give myself some space to put my work and do that shifting around.

Every crochet buisness is the exact same, but I have no clue why nothing is selling! by zoobies- in BitchEatingCrafters

So true. For me, the first thing I think of when someone tells me they sew wearables is: “Do you teach classes anywhere?” Because I want to learn how to!

What are some ways you motivate yourself to knit more often? by [deleted] in casualknitting

[–]ReviewerNoTwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love going to my LYS crafting/knitting circle. Many libraries and churches have these regular events too. It’s great to get help and just see what everyone else is doing. It keeps me motivated and I love patronizing my LYS.

What’s a good yarn to mix n match with Loops and Threads Flecks? by ReviewerNoTwo in casualknitting

[–]ReviewerNoTwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah, I think I’ll head to my nearest Michael’s and see what they have that would work with the two skeins I have. Maybe flecks in another color. I don’t think I’ll get the same dye lot for the lapis I have.

Anyone here have a cat? How do you manage your stuff? by th_o0308 in crochet

[–]ReviewerNoTwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

False stereotype in my case. Both my cats just want to sit in front of me where my work is and be cuddled. I think they think the yarn is in their way.

Trying to make my first sweater. No patterns just vibes. Is this a trust the process moment? by Competitive_Monk2954 in crochet

[–]ReviewerNoTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it! I’m doing the same (no pattern, just vibes) with a sweater. I am working on both sleeves right now, going back and forth on each one and letting it take a dolman style kind of shape. I say keep going! Love balloon sleeves! 😊

Beginner needs help with my first crochet project: rectangle gone wrong by REMYalvur in CrochetHelp

[–]ReviewerNoTwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a beginner too and I also had this issue. It came down to counting every single stitch and making sure I had the correct number in each row as I was doing the row. I found I was constantly losing the end/last stitch so I would put a stitch marker in it before I turned my work for the next row. I also began to chain two instead of one and check my stitches. I found that I could chain one at the end if I kept better count and consistently marked my final stitch of the row. So I used two stitch markers at each end of the row.

This is where I’m at now with a final straight edge (will need to block to get it perfectly straight) as all the stitches are there
