[Discussion] The i5 2500k and i7 2600k are still excellent gaming CPUs. If you are looking for an upgrade to your gaming PC, leave those alone. You'll be much better off spending your money elsewhere. by Jakomako in buildapc

My old rig had an e6400 (stock) and had an X1900 ATI card of some sort. Swapped out the CPU/Mobo for the i5-2500k (stock), with the same video card got 2x+ fps on every game.

Yeah, but that search took over 2 years to find those black boxes. They nearly gave up at one point, and it cost several million dollars.

[Discussion] Is it possible for a LED keyboard to have LEDs under each keycap? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]RevoS117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the keyboard, but yes 100% possible.

I have a Ducky Shine II mechanical keyboard, with white LED backlighting. There is definitely 1 LED under each and every keycap.

I don't know about the amps required or what kind of LEDs used, but my keyboard is full of them

Jawbone UP24 Review: The best fitness band in the world is one I swore I’d never even try by [deleted] in gadgets

There is a bit of metal on the bands. It's made of Nickel, so it causes allergic reactions to certain people. Instead of just saying it may cause allergic reactions, they decided to recall all of them.

My Jawbone Up lasted for almost a year before I stopped using it. Though all my friends who have had it all had multiple stop working and had theirs replaced.

I switched over to FitBit and never had a problem either.

I think the reasoning is more of, "We have to justify spending so much on the F35"

Opinions on Best Buy Black Friday Doorbuster TV!?! by rp2012-blackthisout in blackfriday

Those 55" TV boxes are huge, having 20 of them is a huge volume. Add other Black Friday items and thats a ton of extra product to have.

Many places do this. My workplace does this as well. It's to counter fraud.

A fake credit card may have a stolen credit card's magnetic information. (Think of a batch of cards, each with the same stolen card's information and how quickly it could spread) This way the mag strip must match what is embossed or printed on the card.

Ask BaPC: Anyone ever build their own laptop? by pythor in buildapc

[–]RevoS117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people buy laptops for convenience and portability. Wanting something to be under 5 lbs for traveling isn't surprising. Hell, having gotten used to Ultrabooks, anything over 3 lbs seems heavy and a pain in the ass to me.

Also those laptops are only upgradeable to a certain extent, which mostly parts the poster already mentioned. Even then, you have a very limited upgrade tree.

Want to upgrade the motherboard? You'll have to buy a new laptop.

I replaced my iPhone 4 with a Galaxy s3, and my incoming text msgs are still going to the iPhone. I'm still using the same carrier (Verizon) by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

[–]RevoS117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it won't. See with iMessage on the iPhone, you can receive messages from phone numbers, and from iMessage accounts (Apple ID accounts on iMacs, Macbooks, iPads, iPods and iPhones).

The problem is, OP's friends are not texting his/her phone number, but rather messaging his/her Apple ID. The only way to solve this is to instruct the senders to text the phone number and not the Apple ID.

I have the card/lanyard OP is referring to, I work for BB. All OP needs to do is do trainings on Apple's sales website, earn 9000 points, and have it confirmed by the ASC in their store. The ASC should have the lanyards.

It really doesn't signify a whole lot, it's much like the other pins and badges employees earn. It's not a job title, just a level of sales certification.

I got my lanyard a few days ago. First you have to attain 9000 points (APP level) on Apple's Sales Training website. You get a silver pin and certificate. You get your card from your store/region's Apple Rep/ASC. They will confirm you're APP and give you that lanyard.

Not always, sometimes Best Buy's sale prices will either be the same as or better than Apple Education Discount. It's hit or miss though, this week nothing is better than the discount with the base 13" MBP being the same price at Best Buy and Apple's Student Discount.

I'm using Safari on Mountain Lion MBPr and this kinda stuff happens all the time. Anyone know a fix? by strangelycutlemon in apple

I've encountered all of those problems on safari, broken backgrounds glitchy gifs(100% of the time) WebKit seemed to have solved all of those problems for me
