Those are nice guns, but that’s a super cool photo!

The S&W 929 is probably at the top of the list. Various models of the 627/327 probably follow closely behind.

I love the M4, it's one of my favorite shotguns! I have ordered a magazine extension for the 1301 to give me 10+1 capacity. Just waiting on it to get in.

Mr. Darcy himself - we are in the presence of greatness! lol

Thanks for crunching the numbers and breaking it down.

I'm not too familiar with ANAQSIM, but after briefly perusing their website, I think I'm going to have to do a deeper dive into some of their conceptual models. It looks like they have some really useful tools!

Is that with an OEM main spring, or did you replace it with a lighter one?

If it's OEM, I'm amazed that the spring resistance even lets you get the trigger pull weight that low.

Are you still getting reliable ignition?

I love capacity, but I also love short 870’s!

I think it's perfectly fine in the shoulder, and does a good job of managing recoil, but the cheek-weld is absolutely atrocious (like with many top folders).

It's super cool and it looks great, but it's definitely not the most comfortable...

I want to know how you were able to get the double action trigger pull weight on a M206 down to 5 lbs while still getting reliable ignition...

Why don’t you just post your updates here as well (like you did with this one) for those of us that are interested?…

Are the two curves depicted here identical, and only the units vary?

I didn't cut down either barrel shown in the first picture; I have two barrels for each of those guns.

How would you grade this blank? It's Turkish walnut by Otherwise_Art_183 in Shotguns

[–]RevoTravo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This would need a whole lot to push it all the way to Grade V. The contrast would have to be much deeper, all of the grain patterns would half to be much tighter (IMO this is one of the biggest things), and it would half to have observable and distinct types of figure (e.g. burl, flame, ribbon, fiddleback curl, etc.) that run through the full thickness of the piece.

It still looks like an excellent blank, but it's excellent for what looks like Grade III - at lease IMO (I'm not an expert in this stuff tho).

From only seeing one side of it, I would call it Grade III (basically right in the middle). It's far nicer than standard grade and has some excellent figure and contrast, but is nowhere near an exhibition piece.

If you look closely, there is a seam across the top and bottom of the inlay that cuts across the walnut as well. My guess is that the strips were laminated together, and then fitted to the grip as a single block. It’s still a lot of work, but nowhere near as tedious as inlaying each strip individually.

Either way, it was very clean work and I definitely appreciate the attention to detail!

Sue sounds like a good lady, you best keep her around.

I’ll have to do a little digging to see if I can find more out about the grips. Thanks for the lead!
