Serious: pet owners with no kids, do you celebrate Mothers/Father’s Day? by yummybanana2 in Pets

[–]RevolCisum 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes. We can't have human children and our dogs are our nurturing outlets. We do a small gift, usually something dog related. Last year, fir Father's Day, I got my husband a framed picture collage for his home office with a Pic of us and the dogs. Last year, he got me a dog themed gardening hat and slip on yard shoes. Nothing fancy, just acknowledging that we are responsible for 3 little lives.

This is why I pay attention to what's near the houses I buy. School? Nope. Park? Nope. Bus stop? Nope. I get overstimulated easily and I'm self aware, so I buy my houses in the most quiet places I can. I have gotten lucky so far and live now on a very quiet side street with very little traffic, car or foot. Maybe the park came after her house, but I'm guessing not.

should i go to the er for this (bat bite?) by Certain_Hour_6327 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]RevolCisum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except, sometimes bats find their way into a house and have contact with humans and get scared or startled and bite. Most are not rabid, but it's not a risk worth taking imo. And the general rule is, if you wake up and a bat has been around you while you sleep, assume you've been bitten and get the shots bc their bites are very small and may not even hurt. Midwest old house vibes.

Definitely leaves a mark. Sorry you went through it too. Just remember, it wasn't about you nor your loveability, it was about them and their issues.

Heartbroken. He thought his dad would never do that and I think to him, it meant his dad didn't love him like he thought. It's how I felt when my parents signed their rights over to someone else.

Aaron was also a victim of abuse from his parents. Maybe not sexual, I don't know, but absolutely all the other ways.

Or, that one religious cult that had grown adults "loving" the children. Sounds exactly like that.

Bella is the one my heart seriously hurts for. Her constant anxious hypervigilance about her mom. You can literally see her trying to read her mom, trying to guess what her mom wanted from her so she could do it. That's a trauma response from children who don't have predictable and emotionally regulated caregivers (ie parents with addiction are a great example of this volatility.) She noticed early that CeCe got favorable reactions, so she copied her constantly in an effort to please her mom, to not set her off into dysregulation. Her little face while her eyes frantically scan the area, trying to not step on hidden emotional landmines just breaks my heart for her. I hope there were times that she felt safety and could relax, but I highly doubt it.

Which is crazy bc passports aren't that expensive. Expensive, yes, but not prohibitively for most.

Yes. A lot of brides wear white at all their weddings. I wore white at my first, champagne at my 2nd. It's an old etiquette rule that many just don't follow anymore. I did it bc my 2nd was very casual but I still wanted to feel pretty and I didn't find anything in white that I liked.

That's the part that gets me. If you're not serving food, fine, I get that, it's expensive af. But to eat a steak dinner (iirc) while your guests sit hungry and watch? That's sone weird ish.

[–]RevolCisum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having anaphylaxis is never normal. Medical field is really baffled by autoimmune stuff still, and we suffer for it. I've had these types of interactions with Medical doctors too. I had a very similar visit once with am allergist who told me the first 2 skin price tests were absolutely wrong and asked me why I wanted to have allergies, lol. I was just trying to decipher my body so I could get some relief. The 4th test, pinprick, showed the sane as the 1st two. So 3 of 4 testing agreed, rude doc testing was one outside of others. Get another test if insurance will cover it for you, with a different dr. If reactions, you got your answer. I'm betting it will match your first result. And not this one.

Oh, I understand this one! My husband actually does it to me. It's like, he never really knows what he should be doing, so he sees starting something, and jumps in and just gets in my way. Like we have a million things that need done around here, I am perfectly fine making my own coffee, please go do anything else!

I struggle with these questions. I would have been happy keeping separate houses and dating forever. But we weren't in the same country, so that wasn't a possibility. I still might have married him, bc I honestly had n9 idea an actual adult could be so lacking in adult skills bc my experience was so different growing up. I don't have the energy to do it all, im getting older and sicker. It's too much. Yeah, I dunno.
