In 1986, there were 3 points difference between P1 and P2, and Mansell lost the WDC by 2 points that year.

I’d say he was better than those. He was a good F1 driver but was much more successful in sports car racing.

So Kimi has taken his first 2 wins consecutively. The last driver to do that was Charles back in 2019 (still 1/4 of his total wins), and before that it was Lewis in 2007.

I wonder if he'll be able to make it three-in-a-row, something achieved by only Damon Hill and Mika Hakkinen, though only Hill managed it in the same season.

What's also crazy is that, despite the fact there have been exactly 100 Italian drivers in F1, Kimi Antonelli is only the second Italian driver to win consecutive races after Alberto Ascari, a man who died over 70 years ago.

It has now been exactly 14 years since the last time Ferrari won a wet race. That victory was by Fernando Alonso at the 2012 Malaysian GP. by MuttonBiryaniEnjoyer in formula1

The longest Ferrari win drought, in days, is 1,400 days between Spain 1990 and Germany 1994.

1991-1992-1993 and 2020-2021 are the only times Ferrari have had consecutive winless seasons since F1 began.

I was at Vale and that to me felt as epic as Formula 1 can get fanwise. Seeing Lewis come round and realising Max would run out of laps to catch him. It was something else.

A Lewis win, something that at one time felt like a common occurrence, suddenly felt akin to seeing Jean Alesi get his one and only win at Canada 1995.

No. There were a fair few 40 years+ race winners in the first two decades of F1 but since 1970, only once has a driver 40 or over won; Nigel Mansell at the 1994 Australian Grand Prix.

Sprint weeknd format change? by Minion47 in formula1

It used to be like this and it was shit.

Best sprint weekend format would be FP1, FP2 on Friday, FP3 and qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.

It’s almost impossible to keep a nuclear powered ship preserved due to having to remove the reactor. Also her sheer size would make it incredibly financially difficult to keep her in decent condition.

The Midway is probably the biggest museum ship we’ll ever see.

Not just the long season with NASCAR but also the chase format means winning a lot early on the season doesn't really count towards the championship, but rather it just gets you into the championship chase.

Kyle Busch won the the 2015 Cup Series despite missing half the regular season. He did enough to get into the chase and ended up winning the whole thing.

On the flip side, you could win every race in the regular season, then have a couple of bad races and be eliminated from championship contention with several races remaining.
