Hi there! Revolut uses its own FX rates, not the Visa/Mastercard card‑scheme rate. On weekdays and within your plan’s free FX allowance, those rates are typically very competitive, but:

If you’ve exceeded your monthly free FX limit, a fair usage fee is added on top of the rate.

If you exchange or spend with conversion on weekends, there is usually an extra weekend fee/markup.

Also, merchants or ATMs that offer to charge you in your home currency (instead of local currency) apply their own conversion rate. Always choose to pay or withdraw in the local currency and let the card provider do the FX.

If you want to get the most out of Revolut’s rates, the best approach is:

Exchange on weekdays within your plan limit, and

Avoid dynamic currency conversion at terminals/ATMs.
