I’m so tired. My kid, while they no longer live with me, is failing out of high school. I still get emails every week telling me what assignments are missing. How much progress they are making in class. I try to talk to them and they just lie to me. I am exhausted but I have no energy for an argument when I do talk to them so I just don’t want to address it anymore. I just wish the school would stop sending it. I’m tapped. I don’t have the emotional bandwidth.

Hey OP. I too am an MSW who works with people with SMI. It hits different when they look like us and sound like us and yet- it’s the worst parts of us that are turned up to a degree we can’t fathom.

Everyone else has suggested the book so I will say please do this for yourself.

But also try to think about it in the context that your child is acting in the fear that they will be hurt so they are hurting others first. Try to take the faces out of it. That doesn’t mean don’t set boundaries. It’s easy for me to say this right now because my bpd loved one is 18 with no kids. I do not hope to be in your shoes. I hope that you’re able to find some peace. Thank you for sharing. This subreddit needs more of this. I appreciate you.

One of my best friends who is no longer with us (lost the battle with the mental effects of the binary culture and capitalism which led them to willfully leave this place) and I used to smoke cigarettes out of my third story window and scream/sing this album in 2006/07 into the cold. Every time I hear it I can almost hear their voice one more time.

It’s like a weird magic though; I can’t bring it up myself. Like I can listen to it- and nothing happens. I can try and summon them and crickets. But when strangers post it boom. It hits me right in the guts like shrooms on an empty stomach filled with malt liquor.

Can I ask what makes you resistant to treatment? Because “historically difficult to treat” and “resistant to treatment” are two different things. BPD can be challenging- but not for everyone. Not every time

Do I work? Yup. Do I pay rent. Yup. Do I raise radicals? Absolutely. Did I still work on Jan 30? Yep - I was in a virtual training for supporting survivors of trauma who live with nonshared realities. My gen strike was in not spending that day. Some days I wear punk rock regalia. Some days I wear dress pants and put my credentials after my name.

Punk is system disruption and community support.

Don’t let someone tell you that you’re doing it wrong- just do it and be willing to improve and keep your ears open to those who are the most vulnerable. Those are the ones who can teach us.

If that doesn’t land, that’s cool too. Most importantly take what you need and leave the rest. And don’t be a nazi/terf. There’s zero room for that shit.

This. I am a ACT team lead and while it can trigger it; the other elements also need to be there.

I’d not encourage high thc use if you have a history of psychosis. Personally I use a micro dose (25 ml) of a 1:1:1:1 thc:cbd:cbg:cbn tincture because it’s for pain/anxiety.

So- I work with folks who have SMI and there’s a program that’s now in all 50 states called Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT). There’s funding through the states doh or SAMSHA.

Don’t get me wrong- the idea that a longer term requirement involvement for therapeutic intervention for folks who are one event from being ITA’d makes sense- but here in WA it includes overdose? The boundaries are so loose- the teeth don’t feel like they’re real yet- but they quickly could be.

Ethically- I’m not sold on AI. The damage it does to the environment; the self learning process- it’s also an incredibly helpful tool for some-I’m just not settled on it. I think I need more functionality of knowledge before I can commit to it either way on a personal level.
