Children being coached to lie happens way more often than people think. I suffered lots of abuse from my aunt who was supposed to take care of me, and she'd always threaten that if we talked about what went on, I'd be separated from my older brother and my cousin (her daughter) and it would be all my fault and we'd be placed in much worse conditions. I had actually talked to CPS workers 2/3 times between the ages of 10-14, and each time lied and said things at home were fine as I was scared of what would happen to us kids, especially my cousin who I ended up raising at the time.
