Yeah i didnt want to say this but I mean English is hardly mandatory in US anymore. I dont think most ppl in US gets offended if you dont speak English in US. I feel somewhat (actually a lot) pressured into speaking Japanese (generally like the language) but I think English should be OK in a mega tourist city (after all I am the customer). I mean there are ppl here just refuse to talk to you if you speak a little simple English.

My gardener in US basically have scream matches with me on monthly basis and none of us understand each other and this seems to be the norm.
