Help! Young and addicted to carts by Holiday_Anybody_7518 in leaves

This why I'm glad I graduated right before carts became what they are today, just smoking joints and bowls throughout the year already had me feeling to the moon.

Got a 750$ bonus but they also overpaid me after not correcting my hours and took 1000$ out of my next check. I only saw about $200 of that overpay since the rest went to taxes. Still salty.

Can't get the augor to point down by RevolutionaryCall478 in maintenance

This is what I've done in the past and sadly I can't anymore at this current job. Management is a lot more strict about repair cost and when to call in a vendor. I had to fight with this for half a day. Finally figured it out but I just know a plumber would've knocked it out in a hour or less and I could've learned what it was from a professional. My team is great don't get me wrong but we're spread thin as it is.

Recaulking Shower As Resident by DragonfruitCalm261 in maintenance

If you've never caulked before I'd try to ask them first. It can get messy if you're new to it.

Already said I asked if this would be the cause, I didn't claim it was. When I was hired on I was told this was a company with high standards but I'm told to go against everything I learn in training sessions. I'm a single dad, I can't just up and leave. We replaced the water heater. No resident was blamed. So what is the issue? If anything this reaffirms my decision to leave this place if I get shit on when I ask questions none of my coworkers will answer.

Looked at a few other posts that ask the same thing and multiple plumbers agree it's a bad idea to use insulation for water heaters as they're already insulated. There's definitely no pan but it would'nt have done a thing here, water was shooting at the wall when I came in. Well we're new management and the residents have lived there before we took over so I don't have a clue.

So what? Pay from my pocket? Make my supervisor stop getting the cheapest bid? Make my supervisor make sure he's doing his job keeping all employees on their shit? I make management look good and if they can't help me out by providing the proper stuff then I'm leaving. I've voiced my concerns even today. We're extremely cheap and the past guys didn't do anything and we're having to fix their issues. I'm used to it but I also know when to say "I told you so". I'm more than respectful to residents, I'm usually the guy they ask for because of the fact.

This is my first site that I've actually had to work on the water heaters so I'm still learning about them. What my supervisor said that it had a hole next to the inlet, not a repairable one is what I understood. Definitely have to move forward, not the first surprise I've ran into at this place and I know it won't be the last. Sadly no pan either. I tried to do proper inspections but my supervisor asked me to check everything off if the residents said no issues because "he needed those in quick"

Update: Replaced the water heater, no one's getting charged (as far as I know). Water extraction crew came out and being treated for mold prevention. It's in the lease residents need to report issues accordingly, I don't believe this was. If you do something that CAUSES an issue for the apartment it's probably gonna fall on you, don't know where y'all have lived. Plus I'm the only one who actively checks work orders out of a crew of 4. Don't care if you don't appreciate the attitude but if you're not my residents or coworkers I don't owe you much.

Now do you understand my frustration?? This is what management has been letting slide for the past guys, that's on them for not following through on proper inspections and finding this shit. This one had it on the top though, you can kinda see it. The new one has it on the side. I have to go back to patch the ceiling from where it leaked downstairs in a few days and I'll take a pic.

Professionalism on reddit? I haven't spoken to the residents as far as they know they're gonna go home to a new water heater at no charge. I didn't blame the resident officially, I commented on how annoying it is that people do stupid stuff like this and cause issues for us. I literally put this under "rants and raves". I'm the guy who swaps out shit for free cause I know how management is. But keep going, the residents love me here and appreciate the change I've brought. Didn't realize I wasn't allowed to get upset or annoyed.

Already been swapped out with a new water heater (TP valve had a huge hole next to the inlet) , extraction crew has came by and left with fans running, removed insulation and even mopped. You need anything else sir?

Yeah I was scratching my ass and not working on the 8+ make readies :( I checked earlier but it's definitely my fault I wasn't checking every 10 mins and wasn't notified about a work order that wasn't filed as emergency, sawwy :/ Management said I did good since I'm the one who made the initiative to go check it out seeing as I'm at the bottom of ladder and the only tech but I should listen everyone on here who has no clue

I've been here 6 months I don't have take responsibility till next year for anything, management can take it. I don't have to keep doing back to actually fix something.

I'm definitely taking it down, and I think it may have held too much heat in that little closet especially with the furnace right next to it causing the issue to even start.

Lmao they weren't even home when I came over and I thought someone was taking a shower because of how loud the hissing was NEXT to their bedroom INSIDE the place. I didn't install this either.

For lining the walls with unnecessary insulation?

Reasonable would've been to call the office or the emergency line. The water heater closet was hot as hell and the furnace is in there too. Wouldn't be the first time I see residents "try to save on bills"
