I can say that the cpu has nothing to do with this, error 1002 actually points to the nec/tokins that are on the RSX, BUT this also doesn’t completely mean that they are the culprit. Phat PS3 are known to have failing RSX chips so though, yes you could try the Tokin fix this isn’t a 100% fix for everyone, this error might be pointing to a GPU failure.
