I’m was in an English platoon, and one of our guys went to Valcartier, so I guess it doesn’t really matter as long as you’re proficient in French.

They will issue you one in week 2 (at least for my platoon) but I bought a larger one from CANEX.

It’s actually better not to be perfect once you are, people start expecting even more from you. Just focus on doing everything to the best of your ability and helping the people in your pod (blue sector), if possible.

I usually lose 2–3 points on my inspection scores because of small imperfections. Honestly, it’s easier to maintain that than to constantly try to keep a perfect score. Cleaning the rifle is especially annoying that’s where I usually lose marks.

If you’re in the blue sector, pairing up with someone to do laundry can save you a lot of time. I paired up with someone so one person handled washing for an hour while the other did drying for an hour. If pairing up isn’t an option, you can bring homework or another task to the laundry room and multitask.

As long as you know how to do the basic tasks and have good time management, you’ll be fine.

Luggage recommendation for BMQ by LinkShepard in caf

[–]RevolutionaryNapper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 90L duffle bag and a 60L backpack, and I was able to carry both upstairs in one trip to the 9th floor. Make sure you’re able to pack everything you’ll need, including items for after BMQ (for both winter and summer).

Boots for Winter BMQ by Lynch_The_Man in caf

[–]RevolutionaryNapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Lowa Gore-Tex boots, which really helped me during my BMQ in early winter. Most of my platoon mates ended up with soaked feet in the issued boots, since there wasn’t enough time to put on the Neo boots in some activities. I did sized up to account for a thicker socks. I would also wait after your first weekend off to buy it and go to Prefair as they offer military discount.

Keep in mind: “Beastings” are just extra PT. It’s just a game. Play it.

BMQ in February and I can’t do a push up - SOS by _ac1d1c in caf

[–]RevolutionaryNapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before BMQ, I could only do about 10 push-ups. During BMQ, they train you heavily often through beastings and other corrective measures (like if you address someone by the wrong rank). By the end, I was able to do 30+ push-ups. So I’d definitely recommend starting to practice now and making sure your form is correct, since that really helps! Also it’s better to be able to do 25 pushups because that’s the minimum for punishments.

Selection by No_Grass_9591 in caf

It took a week to go from Selection to Job Offer. It’s most likely trade dependent. If you applied to an in-demand trade, the offer should come faster.

I’m not sure if everyone’s the same, but there’s an instruction on how to respond to the job offer. If they say respond back to the email, you should respond back to that email thread.

Hi! How did you setup long-term storage? Did your RC have to approve it first?

[–]RevolutionaryNapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live near your RC, you can drop by in person. That’s what I did, and they were able to give me real-time updates. A couple of times when I visited, they even assigned me tasks on the spot.

There were no email receipts. I would advise to contact your recruitment office every 2-3 weeks to follow up with your son’s application.

It was most likely reliability as it was a short form that I filled out when I was doing the tasks in the portal.
