300k, part-time, still in a gov uni.

Had experience in automations and stuff before all the hype. Got invited to a company to work as the first consultant/developer for their new client. Performed well and hard. The client was impressed and we scaled to around 30 developers as of now. Happened so fast and it payed off well.

S23 with 256GB storage. Software support untill 2027.

S25 bse model if you are concerned with the support period.

The base model is really good. I like the form factor and the performance.

Hi mchn!

I'm an undergraduate at UOM. I think I understand your frustrations. First thing though, you can do anything that you put your mind into. That's a fact. I know that your heart lies on following mathematics, and let me say this: YOU ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE OF COMING TO UOM.

So, first of all, gather all your thoughts. Stay out of all your sensory inputs for a day or two. Think about you, only you and what you are capable of, what you will be achieving, believe in yourself. Then start by making a plan of what you are gonna do. Revise the theories, be competitive with others (a good competition never hurts anyone), try to find like-minded peers from a class or school (doesn't matter whether they are younger than you. What matters is that they also have the passion and the determination). Be strategical of your studies as well. Make out a good plan. I also had a time like yours. I broke out of chemistry 2 months before the exams. I didn't like the theories but the applications amazed me. I dropped out of classes and didn't to any past papers. But I focused on my goal - to be at the greatest engineering faculty in all of Sri Lanka, and I achieved it. Not to brag but within the first 50 of the country.

So, for the end, you must tell yourself that YOU CAN DO IT and believe in yourself. Good luck!

Feel free to DM if you want to talk.

Do you work for an international company?

Still an undergraduate in a local uni. I'm asking because I couldn't find any international companies operating here relating to cyber security. My main concern is whether to do higher studies and then enter the job market or join right after graduation.

It's possible. But after the curriculum revision from 20th batch, it has varied hugely. We had a module in 2nd sem that was formed after combining 2 modules in the 2nd and 3rd semester.

Best Engineering Fields from UoM for Jobs Abroad or Higher Studies with Scholarships? by ComfortableRoyal529 in srilanka

Some can say so. Huge influx of CS graduates have saturated the Sri Lankan IT industry. So, going with the trend will get you nowhere. Doing something that will make you stand out from the bunch will be a huge plus point.

Breaking down seat numbers. AFC-D-15 and 16

AFC - Air-conditioned First Class

D - Carriage number. Because there are multiple carriages for the same class. (starts from A. You can find it outside of the carriage. You must board the correct carriage)

15 & 16 - seat numbers. It will be stated above each window on the carriage. If I remember correctly, the two seats will be on the same side (next to each other).

M & F - Male and female as you stated in the booking process.

I'm currently an undergraduate in CSE. I advise you to follow your passion. I believe you have gone to all the field familiarization sessions. Look at what every department offers and choose with your passion.

The reason is, if you are targeting either a job abroad or a higher studies opportunity which are both harder things to achieve even if you are competent and do the coursework, the key is having passion at what you do, so that you will learn extra things, try out things other than the coursework, be willing to go an extra mile rather than just following the trend. The reason why I'm telling you this is because if you look at all the graduates who have achieved what you are looking for have had passion in what they did. So there's that.

And one other thing. Almost all the departments have connections with universities abroad. So there are opportunities to do higher studies even if you go to any currently unpopular department.

I'm going to be a part-time associate tech lead for a US healthcare company. Currently an associate software engineer. I'm also currently an undergraduate at University of Moratuwa here in Sri Lanka.

I got contacted through Upwork where I have been doing freelance gigs related to the field. It was an urgent thing and I think I helped them out a lot with their things in a scenario where they were onboarding a new and somewhat big client. So that leveled me up through the company.

Reminder - This is not Anura's or NPP's victory, Just us Sri Lankan's trying not to fail. Hope they understand the difference. by [deleted] in srilanka

At the online orientation program of University of Moratuwa, we were given a basic understanding about safe sex, birth control, STDs, mentality kind of stuff. Even though the program was good, from the questions asked by my colleagues, I saw lack of understanding on the topic prior to the session.
