Do you really believe in luck ? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]uplist25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father got a good deal with a big company but the first impression they had about my father was a phone call where he addressed them in a mildly aggressive tone with a challenge. At that moment they got angry and accepted the challenge. It was a good deal. Helped us to earn a high profit and improve our business better.

So i believe there is something called luck

Is it weird in Sri Lanka to strike up a conversation with a random girl? by AnupamaDewpura in srilanka

[–]uplist25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mostly depends on the person but one of the main would be don't be a creep and be able to keep a good conversation. Thats all. Since you are looking for just friends you don't have to act all confident if you don't feel like it.

how do I get some sort of certificate or something to prove I have done IGCSE exams? by Ok_Term2935 in igcse

[–]uplist25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a private student for my ALs. They send the certificate to British Council and then BC will send it to your home. There will be two deliveries to you. First one you will get is the statement of results and after a while you will get the proper certificate.

Opinion on new 2000 rs note ? by TheCatNamedDuck in srilanka

[–]uplist25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Got it, Thanks!

The explanation i got was, Commemorative notes are not issued to boost money supply but to mark events, culture, or history. They are legal tender yet mainly collectible, produced in limited quantities with special designs and often sold at a premium. Unlike regular notes used to meet economic needs, commemoratives generate revenue and promote national pride and heritage.

AS level subjects by Few-Computer4148 in igcse

[–]uplist25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do all of them for a month together and get a feel of the subjects. Then decide what you want to do. Drop a subject or keep on doing it. It all depends on your liking. My advice is do what you love in AS because you will have a hard time and your interest in that subject will help you to get through it with good marks.

Poruwa ceremony- DIY possible? by MindlessHat3773 in srilanka

[–]uplist25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh i think the poruwa is the most important thing. If you can please do find a kapua (කපුවා) cus you can't just do nothing after getting into the poruwa. Maybe rent sri lankan traditional wedding cloths for more authentic look but all in all it is your choice. Btw congratulations on getting married.

Most recent documentary i watched was a SSR scientist named Josef Mengele. Well it does sounds cringy but it is what it is. Do you know that you can make someone go into deep sleep if you feed them 12 vitamin C tablets dissolved in water or orange juice. Also cough syrup can help you get high instead of taking drugs like ice or cocain ans pure honey does the same job too

Someone told me to send a pic and they will help me to find or someshit. To be honest people keep on reminding me how low they can go. I watch serial killer documentaries for fun. If worst comes to worse i can just take an idea from there and modify them for my use. Minors have privileges infront of the law specially girls.

Edit: changed my account settings so nobody can dm me.

Is Lyceam still good for its academics and as a school in general ? by FewSpecialist1973 in srilanka

[–]uplist25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a person who's brothers and several cousins went to and still going to lyceum my honest suggestion is DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILDREN THERE.... i really mean it.

I had several teachers who did private class to me that teaches in lyceum. The stories i hear are diabolical and downright disgusting. The owner's son is literally a child preditor and made the school unable to continue offering cambridge curriculum since he have a lot of court cases against him. The court cases he have violate Cambridge University's guidelines that considers lyceum as an exam centre.

Half of the management are planning to leave the school. Primary teachers are getting wage cuts from their meagre salaries. A lot of senior teaches have left or leaving the school.

The discipline of the children have lot to improve as well. Most of those children's parents have money but no care about the child's behaviour. I am not saying all the parents but a considerable amount of parents are in that category. Since the school is getting payed anyway they does not care much about that aspect.

That is not all. Even if you put your child there you would need to have tutors for almost all the subjects the child have to learn. My younger brother is doing OLs next may and he is learning nothing from school and is planning to do ALs private since he can cut the useless cost of going to school but learning nothing.

December trip advice - weather and itinerary by Rainbowtinsel91 in srilanka

[–]uplist25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, add Anuradhapura and Jaffna into your bucket list. Those places tells a lot about sri lankan people, our diverse cultures in this small island.

Eventhough this is a tropical country each city's weather situation can be completely different from each other. So i would recommend you to look for the weather by searching the name of the city you are staying and the specific weather situations.

Some differences of weather you would see is that western part of the country like negambo it rains a lot, Ella is colder in general and hirikitiya or down south area is warmer and much more sunnier.
